We play in a monsoon and cannot get ONE stinking fumble when we need a defensive stop/score. Are you zhitting me???

I hated watching our defense tonight. Enough with the schmidt getting us in the right positions---we need PLAYMAKERS out there!!!

I was thinking some of the same thoughts you had. Why or where is Nyles Morgan? We need more speed on defense if the front 4 can't get pressure.

And I am very concerned that the D hasn't forced more turn overs this season.

This has been a theme of mine. Even when a possible turnover could be had, no Irish player is ever around the ball. Whether it be tipped ball, muffed punt, or a good old fashioned fumble.

And IJ we are not forcing turnovers. The coverage always seems to be a step behind the receivers. Kind of like a let them catch it and then make the tackle. We need to create some turnovers going forward.

Lost the turnover battle....lost the ball game. Very simply put. Might look back on things and maybe Kelly shouldn't have went for the early 2 pt conversion......but "if" the Irish had showed up in the first half ND may not have been in that situation to begin with. Great game plan by Clemson....loaded the box and shut down Prosise. It's a shame that the ND OC didn't realize the underneath pass was open til the 4th quarter.....was open all night long. Oh well.....suck it up boys and get ready for next week. Come in with your heads down and pouting and it will be a long day next Saturday and reminiscent of last year with the Loss column piling up.

I would like to know how many passes this Secondary has broken up this season. I know they keep this kind of stat.

We did get one interception, but yes … no caused fumbles.

In defense of the D. The offense did absolutely nothing in the 1st half. The punter gave Clemson a short field and Sanders fumble was a killer. Those early TDs were embarrassing but the D played decent after that.

seriously people get pissed at my posts, sometimes I probably deserve it, but for the most part I just point out stuff. this post is freaking idiotic considering the only reason it wasn't 30-3 was that the defense made stops in the first and second halves. joe is a great player, very smart and has enough skill to make plays. if nyles or one of the other linebackers were better they would be in there but they aren't and it is that simple.

also what kind of spell is van gorder supposed to take out of his magical pouch for an actual 3-4 man pass rush? he has to blitz 6-7 guys and they barely get to the quarterback... then add the fact our safeties are freaking terrible and it leads to easy touchdowns. max and shumate bite on every play possible, watch when usc throws it 50 times, weather permitting, and our secondary gets baked. even russell has been playing average this year but he is still legit, otherwise we have very little and that isn't van gorders fault.

ND has to get some big time pass rushers this cycle some way or another. You have to get a shutdown corner too, unless Crawford is that guy. But it is imperative you have to find pass rushers that aren't long term prospects. You have enough offensive talent to compete at a high level the next couple of years, but Jaylon Smith and Sheldon Day are gone after this year.

Even our STARS were not there when really needed. Jaylon needs to stop everything---he does not. Russell really misses that lost season. Too stiff--was better with less muscle. Not a #1 cover corner. Schmidt not making plays. Where was DLine? You know like clemson's DL that embarrassed out OL????? Hey Max actually played the best!

GET BETTER!!!

I made that point earlier in the week; lack of takeaways. Seems to be a stickout stat.

Guys, this team is not creating a lot of turnovers but their play has been solid. Watson 11/22 for 97yds. Held Clemson to under 300yds at their house - that's pretty solid D. ND did not lose this game by how the D played, they lost because of turnovers and dropped balls.

^ lost the game a/c of 2 foregone xtra points; they failed to win handily a/c of poor play calling, dropped passes and fumbles!

It's easy to sit back and question play calling when it doesn't work out. BK will evaluate his and the staff's coaching and try to improve upon it. You act as if BK has to be a perfect coach - there's no coach in the world that never makes a mistake. I suppose you can do a better job coaching ND than BK - right?
