Pat is a very good man who has done poorly at a job for winch he had no training of experience.
If I'm not mistaken, Pat didn't really want the job as AD to begin with, but he believed he could come in and stabilize the department and get SC through the sanctions.
He's a very bright man in the business/political world, but I think we would all agree he is in way over his head as an AD. The Sark hire/fire was a cluster $&@! and his hiring of Andy Enfield (basketball) leaves a lot to be desired. In addition, his sideline antics at last year's Stanford game got him a reprimand and a $25K fine by the PAC.
I think part of Haden's problem is he is too close to the program. He's a former star QB and football legend, so I think his desire to see SC do well on the gridiron sometimes clouds his judgement.
Should he step down? Maybe. I'd like to see him bring in the next football coach and have a shot at redemption. In other words, I'd like to see him leave on a good/high note.
I believe Pat is smarter than anyone here. I think the job is just plain overwhelming. He seems to be a good guy.
Bodizephax, I understand your zeal for the Irish. I have it too. What I do not understand is your cold, heartless post calling for Hayden's head.
I have no dog in this fight, and doubt you do either, which makes your post just downright mean. I had thought you a dedicated Irish fanatic. Now I am not sure what your motivations are.
By most accounts Hayden is a very decent man that happens to work for one of our bitter rivals. USC has a forum like ours, and if their fans want to belittle him, that's on them. I can't understand why you even care?
How would we react to a loyal Michigan poster starting a thread about how poor our AD was? Not well I'd bet.
Aren't we lucky that jn the performance of our daily jobs that we are not subjected to public humiliation and ridicule?
