ND has been playing well up until the last few minutes where they are definitely starting to look tired and drunk. They are going to have to dig in deep again. o_O

What a nail biter. Hope Rex is ok, it looks like he dinged his knee.

A few missed FTs, a few missed 3 pointers and some crazy out of control drives by Va Tech ... et voila all tied up under 3 mins ... buckle in

Seems like their legs are gone. VJ's shooting is typical of a shooter whose legs are gone. Looks like he is struggling quite a bit.

Damn Farrell has been dead tired for good chunks of this game but the dude just keeps fighting and clawing. Jersey Tough.

Gotta love this team ... one word ... gutsy. They don't panic, and don't quit. Even with the uncharacteristic missed foul shots. They just don't quit. Sign of a very well coached team. They believe!

Buguit can complain all he wants that Brey can't coach, but he sure has this team prepared to win.

Great road wins ... first break Miami's 21 game home streak, now VT's 15 game home streak.

I had to laugh when I saw that V Tech guard roll the ball up earlier in the second half. I thought to myself that's a dangerous game since Farrell had stolen the ball when another team did that earlier this year by diving for the ball. I really love watching this team compete but I hope they find a way to keep extending a lead instead of seeming to tire themselves out and let the other team back in the game. Now onto Florida State.........

I'm not gonna have any nails left at this rate!:D
Another road win, 5-0 in the ACC. Next up at Fla. St.. It should be fun!

We beat an unranked team. We were blowing them out. The missed shots changed the momentum. It was only a nailbiter because Farrell, Beachum and Phlueger missed a lot of wide open shots. Thats why Ryan has to play. He can knock down those trifectas. I dont think we will keep winning against the more athletic teams unless Ryan is rotated in more when the other guys go cold. Farrell should also be subbed out a little bit more to keep his legs fresh. Fla. State, Duke and UNC will be much tougher especially when we rely on a few guys to do the bulk of the scoring.

It's tough winning on the road against any team. Va. Tech had won 15 straight home games before today. It was a good win for the Irish!

Ryan has been pretty useless this season. I rather have Torres in than him.

1. Ryan seems to be a liability on defense.
2. He can shoot 3's, sure ... but he doesn't seem to be able to get himself open for his teammates to find him.

As another poster said ... I'd rather have Torres in there. He defends and battles for the ball and gets "junk" shots to go in and score. Pflueger seems to fit what Brey wants the team to do better too.

Nothing against Ryan, but I'm confident Brey sees Ryan in practice each day, and there is a reason he isn't rotated in. I trust our coach knows what he's doing.

Sorry I have to call you out on this one ... Va Tech came in at 13-3 including a win over Duke and a 15 game home winning streak. That is an excellent win. The story of the game was not missed shots by the Irish ... We shot almost 50% ... the story was some tough play around the basket by Va Tech, a lot of points in the paint and some uncharacteristic misses from the charity stripe by Farrell and Colson who are among the best in the nation. Irish are 15-2 and 5-0 in the best conference in America and have managed to close games well and find different players to ride the victory ... ND is a tough out.

this might be the best win this season because they came in on only one day of rest after winning a hard fought game against the canes and beat a better rested tech squad that had won 15 straight at home including a win over duke. if this team wins on wed against a very good florida st team and goes 6-0 in conference then I think they'll win the acc regular season title which would be a first for the program. can jack now finally give the mens and womens teams a brand new practice facility that they really need instead of having to play in that dump that they call a practice facility

They were ranked 21st last week. VT is damn good team. Anytime you win a road game in conference play it's a big deal.

I like Torres getting more minutes too. He us gritty. Last year I said Farrel should be starting and everyone laughed saying u was related to him blah.. blah. This year i am naking the call on Ryan. He has a quick release and he can give some starters a breather. He can hit the long ball and muscle down below. He is being way underutilized. You will all see. We are going to get beat by the more athletic teams when our gunners go cold.

Ryan played 4 minutes and Geben 13. We are a work in progress and those two earning more minutes is key to me to elevating our chances of winning in the post season.

Ryan is basically engaged in off season conditioning and improving his game in the face of live bullets. Brey is playing him to determine if he is hot or cold on his three point shooting. That determines his minutes.

Geben is improving nicely. VT was not a good matchup for extended minutes from him.

Gotta mention Torres though. He has had two good games in a row. I want him back next year.

Farrell was amazing last year in the NCAA tourney, and it was like why didn't Brey give him minutes during the regular season ? They would have had a better record.

I totally agree with you on Torres. He should be getting 10-12 minutes a game so Bonzie can get some rest to stay fresh. The past 2 games Bonzie looked worn down from all the bigger guys he continuously has to go up against.

I don't agree with you on Ryan. He has been ineffective for the majority of the minutes he has played so far this season. He can hit 3s some times, but other than that he offers nothing. He isn't fast, he can't jump, he isn't good at rebounding or blocking shots, he can't dribble and penetrate to the basket, and he can't score points if he is posted in the paint.

I trust our coaching staff knows what they are doing, and they know a helluva lot more than us. They are all at practice together

Dont forget. The same coaches are in the final 4 every year because it all comes down to strategy. I feel Beachem is inconsistent and he is a slight letdown. Vasturia should be a Wooden award candidate. Developing Ryan now is crucial. Our main guys need help taking on the elite teams. Ryan was Mr. basketball in New York. There has to be more minutes for him. Other guys miss shots and play shoddy D at times too. Ryan needs 10 minutes first half and minimum 5 minutes 2nd half. I think Phlueger needs to give Farrell a break at point guard too once in a while. Gibbs is a better 2 guard. That is my strategy. Everything else will fall in place.
