ND staff was one of the teams that reached out to Ewers.

If true, makes me wonder how confident the staff really is on the current QB room.

It does not surprise me in the least that Marcus Freeman offered Quinn Ewers big $$$$$$$. Quinn Ewers is better than any current QB on the ND roster.

Only that it is fake and zero truth to it 🤣🤣

Other than that it is believable

People are still buying this story from his agent 🤣
You clearly don't know how to read. I said IF true.

And why would Ewers agent fabricate the story. There's no incentive for them to do so.

He's certainly shown more as he's played more.

Personally, if this report is true, I'm glad it didn't pan out. Had ND brought in Ewers, there's a good chance you lose Angeli and Minchey. Granted, Angeli ended up leaving, but they may have lost Minchey as well in this scenario.

It would also send a message to other HS QB recruits that the ND staff isn't confident in developing their own QB

According to the article:
"This past offseason, the Fighting Irish reportedly reached out to former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers with a major NIL offer on the table."
You will know the answer after two games this season. Pointing to HS video and Spring game analysis where there is no game planning and the QB’s aren’t touched does not mean much.

I'm hearing it was in fact the other way around. Ewers wasn't staying at Texas under any circumstances and knew his draft stock had slipped. He rightly so was investigating what might be available to remain in college. Nothing came to fruition that would have been a better scenario than what actually played out. It's what I was told from folks I am confident would know.

The actual truth is something no one will ever be definite about.

"I'm hearing..," with all due respect, doesn't mean much.

I would not be surprised if a Notre Dame collective made Ewers an attractive offer, and would not be surprised if it was Quinn Ewers who reached out.

I wasn't speaking about you. You clearly don't know how to read, I said people are still buying this story from his agent. I would have said you

Why would an agent say his client had a ton of interest from top teams...hmm I have no idea why

This makes a lot more sense.

I would be shocked if they offer3d Ewers

Irrelevant news, but if I had a guess I’d say Ewers camp put out feelers and didn’t get answer they wanted. ND shutdown other portal QB’s pretty quickly this cycle.

Onward with 8 and 13!

It's all about the narrative. On both sides.

"If I had a guess..."

You are correct, it's a guess. If Carson Beck received what he reportedly received(4-million) to play at Miami in 2025, my guess is Quinn Ewers was offered by someone.

And again, simply a guess.

And you have no real evidence that Marcus Freeman "...shutdown other portal QB's pretty quickly this cycle."

It's simply a guess.

CMF shutdown Nico I pretty quick, that is one of example.

Michigan and ND were the two biggest programs he reached out to I was told. He just didn't get the interest from what he thought were potential playoff teams. He wasn't interested in middle of the pack conference teams.

Yeah so ? Like it or not the world of college athletics is my everyday business. I'll never attach a name to a source. My track record is pretty damn good when it comes to information. I'm curious, you seem to know a lot about USC. No one has ever told you anything or are you just a cross between Sherlock Holmes, Colombo and Mr. Monk ?

Hilarious. 27 posts based on some bozo website writer who did not personally speak to Ewers, his agent, or ND.

Freeman has been pretty consistent since the end of the season in saying he wanted a 3 man spring competition and, in fairness to the 3rd place guy, let him know so he could go spring portal if he wanted to compete elsewhere for a starting job.

It took Riley Leonard about 5-6 games to really get going at ND and for NDs offense to come online and go from 30th to top 10 by the playoffs. I'd challenge ND fans to be patient with whoever the new starting QB is through the first several games at least.

The reality is neither Minchey nor Carr is a generational QB like a Trevor Lawrence. Expect growing pains especially early in the season. Whomever the starter is expect mistakes to be made, INT's, fumbles, forcing throws, missing open receivers, etc.

I'm waiting for this forum to completely meltdown when one of them makes a mistake at a critical juncture of the game. Complaining how they should have went to the portal, wishing Angeli never transferred, blah blah blah.

I trust the staff, but if anyone believes a first time QB is just going to step in and the offense is going to just hum along is in for a rude awakening.

I remember when a highly touted dual threat QB named Demetrius Jones was recruited back in 2005-2006 and in his first game he had the deer in the headlights look, and was done. Not saying that's going to happen, but neither has seen full speed college football, and there will be blunders.

There were blunders for 6th year Sam Hartman and 4th year Riley Leonard

Both of these kids are very talented. You bet on the high level talent. The expectation is the offense to be really good. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't

and we should expect even more blunders from either Carr or Minchey due to their lack of experience. I'm ok with it because the odds are long term either one will end up better than both Hartman and Leonard. There will be some on this forum that won't understand it and will have melt downs. Get Nasty comes to mind.

Much more confident in the room with the 2 guys they chose than the 3rd one.

Don't burn a source and keep posting.

Question: can you comment with any certainty on how much ND players are receiving via NIL? Also, since ND has a QB battle right now. Is it expected that right now they're receiving "low NIL" pay and one will have a dramatic increase after being named starter?

I am not privy to that information. ND is not one of our clients. We had a couple of very cordial meetings with their NIL/ Compliance folks but it hasn't gone further than that. They will continue to receive courtesy calls/emails going forward. I don't believe an increase in compensation will occur as that's not a common occurrence in my experiences.

At some point you need to recruit top level QBs every cycle. Why they struggle at that is a head scratcher. Think about it. The starting QB at ND is the most visible position in college football. Look at the QBs through their history. Hopefully Carr or Minchey can change the recent perception and elite QBs jump on board again

Every cycle? Only one top level QB can play at a time. If you are a top level QB, you aren’t wearing a visor during games.
