Expect even more dynamic option attack.I assume no more option from Navy and no more cut blocks with Ken N gone?
It's always difficult to say with Navy.Actually could be a difficult game
The option is their best chance for success with the limitation they haveI assume no more option from Navy and no more cut blocks with Ken N gone?
It's far more difficult for Navy.Actually could be a difficult game
Good post though I thought Weis lost once to NavyIt's always difficult to say with Navy.
Davie had two squeakers, two blowouts and one two-score type win.
Willingham had two squeakers and one two-score win.
Weis LOST TWICE, had two blowouts and one squeaker win.
Kelly LOST TWICE, had FIVE BLOWOUTS, two squeakers and two two-score-type wins.
That's a total of 9 BLOWOUTS, 4 TWO-SCORE WINS and 7 SQUEAKERS.
More than HALF of the games won by ND have been COMPETITIVE. Three of ND's four losses have also been competitive. In fact, they were SQUEAKERS.
So, in total, over a period of 24 years -- PRIOR TO FREEMAN -- 14 of the games have been competitive which is slightly less than 60%.
Last year's game had elements of BOTH an ND blowout and a POTENTIAL LOSS. It was LITERALLY a tale of TWO-HALVES.
From all of this, it's not at all a stretch to suggest that a FREEMAN COACHED ND team could, as you put it, find this "A DIFFICULT GAME."
Or it could be one of those ND BLOWOUTS.
The prior two Dublin games ended in blowouts: 54-27 in 96 and 50-10 in 12.
For my money, there's simply NO WAY to know how this will turn out.
I was at the 96 game with a couple ex players who I worked with and it was a lot of fun. For anyone that’s going this year extend your stay and see the countryIt's always difficult to say with Navy.

No, twice. Both times at Notre Dame.Good post though I thought Weis lost once to Navy
'07 and '09. Not sure which was worse, '07 when we lost in triple OT when our running back got stuffed at the goal line or '09 when we gave up a late safety after rallying from a two TD deficit to tie the score in the fourth quarter.Good post though I thought Weis lost once to Navy
No, he lost in 07 AND in 09. In my opinion, it's the SECOND NAVY LOSS that sealed him GETTING THE BOOT.Good post though I thought Weis lost once to Navy
2009 was worse, IMO. 2007 was a historically bad team. It made sense that Navy would finally get a win that year, and it still took 3 OT’s to win the game.'07 and '09. Not sure which was worse, '07 when we lost in triple OT when our running back got stuffed at the goal line or '09 when we gave up a late safety after rallying from a two TD deficit to tie the score in the fourth quarter.
Yes, Ireland is great. I've both visited "ROOTS" and done business there.I was at the 96 game with a couple ex players who I worked with and it was a lot of fun. For anyone that’s going this year extend your stay and see the country
09 will always be worse. We lost to many teams where no one on their roster would start at ND.'07 and '09. One thing I believe, in ND's favor is enthusiasm. Playing Navy in November is a lot tougher than August. I've said it before. This should be the game ND opens the season with yearly. It's game 1 so the players should be excited to play anyone in a different colored jersey. And it allows ample prep time and you don't have to completely abandon the style of football you played for 6-7 weeks to institute a whole new way of doing things. That being said. I think it will be a squeaker early. And ND could cover the spread but the 2 score type win sounds about right to me. 35-17 type game. It's always difficult to say with Navy.

I wonder if last year's game would have counted as a squeaker if we had not blow out Navy in the first half and changed something in the 2nd. It seems odd that the offense was completely shout out in the 2nd, even for a Rees led unit. It's always difficult to say with Navy.

Tommy Rees, at age 30, now makes 2-million per year as the Alabama OC. Quite the career rise.I wonder if last year's game would have counted as a squeaker if we had not blow out Navy in the first half and changed something in the 2nd. It seems odd that the offense was completely shout out in the 2nd, even for a Rees led unit.
It wouldn' have been a squeaker if ND had continued to dominate the way it had in the first half. As for what happened SPECIFICALLY to trigger what was in effect a second half offensive (in both senses of the word) collapse, I have no idea.I wonder if last year's game would have counted as a squeaker if we had not blow out Navy in the first half and changed something in the 2nd.
