No one! BK is to stubborn and to insincere to allow any legitimate OC to coach with him at ND. He does not want to be out shined by a REAL OC.

Plus, no proven OC will ever want to coach at ND under Kelly. They know Kelly will never give them full control of the offense.

Not one top 25 team would hire Denbrock to run there offense. The only guy I could see Kelly bring in is a guy that will only advise not actually call plays.

Here are some names that should be considered:

Sonny Cumbie TCU

Lincoln Riley
Riley was hired by Bob Stoops at Oklahoma to be their offensive coordinator on January 12, 2015.[3][4]In his first season at Oklahoma, Riley led the Sooners to the 7th ranked offense in the country and to the College Football Playoff. He also won the Broyles Award, awarded to the nation's top assistant coach.

So do you dislike Brian Kelly or something?

I agree with your post, but Sonny Cumbie? You might as well retire the RB position at ND.

He hasn't really had a RB that could carry the team. Almost everyone on this board would love to see Gary Patterson named the head coach at ND. ND most likely will not get him. However, ND can go after his OC.

The run game at TCU, like all schools depends on the oline. TCU lost the majority of their oline from last season. That can and will run. They run some pistol mixed with read option.

really? guys with respectable careers and bright futures will chose to put it all at risk and soil themselves by aligning with Kelly? Clearly that is not an advisable career move!

Kelly knows how critical this upcoming season is, and he is taking steps to correct the obvious deficiencies. He knows how important it is to improve on defense and special teams, and he has fired and hired accordingly. The same with S&C. He will allow these guys to run their part of the program. Unfortunately, Kelly sees himself as the best person to improve the offense, and he has stated that he plans to call the plays next season, unlike the past two seasons. I don't see why an accomplished OC would take the job under these circumstances.

Stop ... please.

Kelly recognizing something

...better late than never?

#1 Kelly by himself can't recognize the obvious. Like how bad we are defensively....he needed what or whom to point that out many weeks after thinking going more thud at practice was the answer. For god sakes thud is the reason we played like pussies on defense.

As far as offense...he could ask Bill Walsh to cone out of retirement....Kelly runs that offense. ..PERIOD❗

Between the twenties it's great. Crucial red zone areas he makes it an adventure.

Oh well..another year of half assed disorganized football. Love it.

I think Denbrock will be the sole OC and they will find a QB coach to focus on coaching up the young guys.

Tommy Rees? :)

Why wouldn't Jeff Quinn not be the next OC? If Kelly wants to save himself he will let JQ run the offense. Kelly needs to be the full time special teams coach.

Don't make me laugh. If Kelly really wants to win he needs to do two things...
Either stay away from everything because anything he's involved with goes to shit....

Or he needs to find that hunger again and become innovative again. Not innovative but rather exploiting areas. He did a great job of going no huddle at Cincinnati....kept the defense exhausted etc....

He started off that way here then what happened...???? It all went to shit. Now we no huddle but snap the ball with three seconds left on the clock. Completely allowing the other team to substitute.

What I think is this...

Kelly got lazy and complacent. He isn't hungry like he once was....

He still wouldn't win the big game because he has no sense of feel but it would clearly show he's trying to utilize any advantage he has.

#1 BK cannot call a game.
#2 BK cannot game plan.
#3 BK cannot make necessary adjustments during a game.
#4 BK has proven he cannot beat any elite team nor win a BIG game.

IMO that is why he needs Quinn to run the offense.

I don't disagree but you are kidding yourself if you think he will be disciplined enough to allow the OC to call the entire game...game plan, etc. Never happen.

The OC won't make it out of the first quarter in the first game before Kelly seizes control of the offense and you know that. He can't help himself.

Just look at the unjust arrogance he gives off and offense is his thing.

Just like years past...whoever is the OC is ONLY that by title and nothing more.

Easy to see why Sanford did not stay long at ND - he allegedly never made one game-day play call while working under Kelly (according to TOS).

Exactly...you could talk the greatest O coordinator in the world to come here but Kelly will never give up the offense. Ever.

I echo again the O coordinator at ND is irrelevant. Bearing a title only.

Sad fact.

P.s. wouldn't be a sad fact if BK had his shit together. He's become disconnected somewhere along the way.

Jeff Quinn was Kelly's OC for 21 seasons before Kelly came to ND and JQ was off to Buffalo. That offense we all saw at Cincinnati that we all thought was coming to ND was Quinn's offense. All I'm saying (IMO) is Kelly will give up control to Quinn, he has in the past.

The problem is he brought that defensive philosophy as well
ND is not UC, and it has played out as many expected it would.
I see nothing new with the new changes at assistant position that will make a big difference unless coach Kelly gets out of his own way

I don't believe he gave up the control to Quinn. He may have worked better with him...but no way did he relinquish control. He's an arrogant know it all. But knows nothing.
