MSU Game Make or Break for Brian Kelly?

Believe me, I realize this. I was just correcting the poster who said ND always has trouble with Michigan State. I recall with Holtz, Michigan State was no problem. The way it should always be.

Holtz had no issues with MSU -- only lost once to them, but Davie lost 5 straight to MSU. -- since around 2000 -- been a fairly consistent series.

Right now the trend is that ND cannot win the close game vs good teams. That needs to change . How this team does it does not matter to me . Just do it. Georgia made some big plays when they needed to. ND needs to do that Saturday night. BK has not had much luck in East lansing. Saturday night they need to win every part of the game. Not by a lot just a little. Just enough to win.

Really ? We lost 21-13 in 89 at ND. ND beat us at home in 90 20-19. Trust me two tough, close games. ND smacked us good in 91
49 - 10 I believe.
Right, you were one of the male cheerleaders right? Or were you Sparty?

Holtz coached more than 2 years. Overall recorded vs. State 8-1. Yea, there were a few close games, the rest were smack downs.

I m well aware of the record as I played in 3 of those games, all losses. You said Lou had no problem with us. 89 and 90 we caused plenty of problems for ND. Stonebreaker made a huge play to save 90 game.

The fact is you can't spell your own id. It's probably best to spell your own id right, before discussing facts.
It is pretty obvious the only time you have had a jock on you put it over your face as you thought it was a air filter. Post less and read more.

Facts got you confused again. Try spelling your own id right before recommending reading to another poster. Btw, you are hilarious.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but that was 20 years ago. Literally a generation has nearly passed since Holtz. Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, Charlie Weis, and now BK have taken the program so far away from anything Holtz ever established.
Yes and sadly in the opposite direction.

think about it. If ND loses to a MSU team that finished last season 3-9 AND lost 9-10 very good players in the off-season (including highly touted Donnie Corley, Austin Robertson,Josh King) then there's a probability the team finishes the season with 4-5 losses.

Would Swarbrick bring back a 7-5 Kelly? No. Would he bring back an 8-4 Kelly? Most likely yes. This will be a decisive game.
I'm thinking that Kelly won't get fired unless the record is so bad Swarbrick is embarrassed. Like another 4 win season. A bowl game secures Kelly another year.

This year MSU has the added ground threat of QB Lewerke. Your interior defense is going to be challenged. I expect Dantonio to run directly at Daelin Hayes who is really a speed rush DE and still unproven as a run stopper IMO. MSU wants to control clock, pound the rock and wear the opponent down. You may well see 2 100-yard rushers for MSU in this game.

In Davie's defense, Michigan State had a pretty coach for three or four of those seasons.
