More realignment rumors

The way things are going who knows what is going to happen? It’s ridiculous to think about. There is no end in site. It’s sad what has happened to college athletics. New years Day is no longer special. 😢😢😢

I’ve said for a long time there will be just two major conferences of 32 or so teams.

I think it’s likely those 64 will play for a National title and the rest of the FBS will play for a title themselves with a similar playoff format.

I think the 64 teams will still be allowed to play the lower tier FBS schools, they’ll justify it through revenue sharing.

Example - ND plays Navy but Navy gets a nice check from ND.

I also think it’s possible that the two “super conferences” will boot teams as well.
Example - the B1G could jettison Rutgers, Northwestern, etc. and add Okie St, Baylor, TCU.

According to ACC bylaws all it takes is 8 teams to split then there is no GOR. Golden bears, ponies & the tree don't officially join the ACC until 7/1/24. Then the ACC should have to invite Benny Beaver & Butch T. Cougar to bring their membership to P4 conference level.

This has all been building for a long, long time now. I said it way back in the BCS days when Boise State-like teams were going undefeated and people would laugh and say they don't deserve to have a shot at the championship.....then why are they even eligible? Why are Liberty, Toledo, and James Madison even in the Top 25 right now? Stop acting like it's "amateur athletics"....it's not. Hasn't been for a long time. If all of these other teams are just cannon-fodder for the "major" teams than split them all off and be done with it. The facade has gone on far too long.

This is so classic. American capitalism is such a disgrace. These motherfckers couldn't find a way to divvy up the money in a tolerable fashion, and still keep the old conferences, which everyone pretty much effin' loved? Instead we are left with this disgrace, this monstrosity. 100% driven by money and nothing else.

It doesn't matter, the world's going to end soon, in the next decade or two, so we might as well true show our true colors as a species. With pure, wild, reckless greed and blind, myopic self-interest right up until the crunch....

This one has the ACC being torn apart ala PAC12. Crazy to think this comes to fruition after Stanford and Cal just came into the ACC.
If true what's left of the ACC should join with the B12 and take Nebraska from the B10 and prevent what many have forcast

I shouldn't have invoked the word 'capitalism', I know how that gets some of you guys. And how quaint of you to invoke full-blown totalitarian communism as the obvious, only alternative.

In any case, what's happening to CFB, it is a disgrace, and that's a good word for it. And I have no reason to think, as a layman trying to keep up with various developments and goings-on, that all these moves and reconfigurations and whatnot, totally come down to nothing more than the most banal and short-sighted dollars-and-cents calculations, as the conferences jostle amongst themselves for the best TV deals. And that's it, no greater good than that, and no other objective than that. Instead of, as I said, somehow figuring out some way, without resorting to total authoritarian communism, for the various big programs to get the money they need and can justify demanding, out of the total pot for the whole sport, without just destroying all the various regional conferences the way we have in the last several years.

And I stand by that. And F capitalism if it's unable to accommodate something as obviously desirable and worthy as that.....

EDIT to add that all this storm and strife will suck ND into a conference at some point, so I hope you're okay with that.

I do agree I don't like the direction college football is heading, btw what would be your alternative to capitalism?

This has nothing to do with capitalism per se. This is just humanity, and people living together and creating and shaping the society they live in. Try to think of it this way, maybe a little thought experiment.... if Jesus came down on a cloud, and he was in a really bad mood, and ordered humanity under pain of some sort of heavy-duty wrath of God type shit, to figure out a way for all the parties to be satisfied, and to keep capitalism going, but you have to totally keep all the conferences just the way they've always been, and presumably allow the big dog programs to make more money than the minnow programs like Northwestern or Oregon St., and ultimately you have to arrive at some acceptable compromise solution, whatever adjustments you have to make to the previous paradigm or price structure or whanot..... I bet you we could 'effin do it. Of course we obviously could.

But that's not how shit goes down in this country. Instead they just blow everything up. Because 'capitalism', such as it is, somehow doesn't allow for that sort of flexibility. And apparently there's no other choice, when of course there absolutely is....

There are rules to capitalism and one of them is the Sherman Act which my be a case here with the right organization arguing for it

There are no rules to capitalism, it's just a general notion. There are specific laws and contractual arrangements, and they most definitely can be worked around and superseded for the good of the nation.... without resorting to full-blown communism.

"There are no rules to capitalism"

I'm sure all the white collar crime cats in jail would disagree

What? That's your retort? White collar crime has never been less criminally punished in American history, thanks to our bankrupt and thoroughly corrupt capitalist democracy. So even though you were grasping at straws in the first place, you picked a short one....

Anyway, I'm dropping this, no talking about politics. This whole shitshow with CFB realignment speaks for itself.

Yes that's my retort. They broke the law which keeps capitalism from running amuck, and I thought we were talking about the business of college football?
I do agree with the whole shitshow point

Get help.

Get help.
like all deluded socialists/communists they will ride it down in flames befroe they admit they are morons for believing in a creed developed by a crazy bigoted idiotic loon

One story about Marx says it all:
A few years after he wrote Das Kapital he was talking to some of his minions; he motioned to the farmland around the city and said that was all wasted ground.
When asked where would the food come from if all farm land was used for something else, he said that was not important.
