I have always considered misdirection as a huge weapon for a Notre Dame offense. We are always facing defenses that get fired up to play the Irish which means they often get very aggressive with their first step. I thought Ara and Lou took advantage of that with the use of misdirection as a staple of their offenses. I don't consider zone reads as misdirection as the defense has an immediate idea of what possible options are coming at them.

I thought with a new offensive coordinator we would finally employ some misdirection, if nothing else, to prevent the defense from selling out on the first inkling as to where the ball is going. I have been disappointed so far. We seem to be pulling more linemen which is good but I believe blocks are set up better when the defense is confused.

I remember those plays
Thanks for the Memories

Counter trey......Joe Gibbs>>>John Riggins, Timmy Smith, Kelvin Bryant (used over and over to beat the Broncos in one Super Bowl in San Diego.)

Misdirection.........Mike Shanahan>>Terell Davis

What is this...1965?

Teams don't get anymore 'fired up' to play the irish than they do any other team.

This is an old cliche that needs to cease to exist.

Where were half of the plays we ran against Temple?

Where was the multiple TE sets? Why didn't we go uptempo. Don't we have 8 people that can catch the ball?

And every time we needed to go vertical we saw a screen or a designed qb run. Does anyone want to defend the playcalling disaster?

You are exactly right in all respects.
