Michigan vs Alabama

Weren't you stating that Alabama deserved to be in the CFP simply because they were in the SEC?

They lost to multiple unranked teams
Yes.

I would have chosen South Carolina, Alabama, or Mississippi over SMU from the ACC.

And this ain’t your Dabo Swinney ACC champion Clemson who lost by double digits to the SEC runner up, and at home to South Carolina in game 12.
And south Carolina losing to illinois. Sec most overrated conference based on performance. You use to pump pac-12, and we’re wrong there, now sec and wrong there too. Do you have any clue about football

All season I’ve said Michigan is a decent team. They’ve hit some transitional issues. Not easy to replace Harbaugh…definitely Saban!

Give the Wolverines credit. Really good D. Best Alabama twice in a row.

Let’s be honest guys…that’s more than the Fighting Irish have done vs elite SEC teams in meaningful games.

Lastly, it’s evident the BIG is good. I still think they will eclipse the SEC. If they haven’t already. Let’s hope tomorrow Notre Dame continues this apparent northern football resurgence.
Big is good esp with addition of oregon and usc. Much tougher conf than sec

Bama no where near the team it was from 2012-2020

You can’t compare this Alabama team to prior Alabama teams
This Alabama team was far from elite

Finebaum was quiet on his SEC TV program today, after the game. The missing element at 'Bama is the coach. IU beat Michigan and Michigan beat 'Bama. So, explain why 'Bame belonged in the CFP and IU didn't?

I’ve been reading this for 15 years since Pete Carroll left.

Come on, you know what happened. USC was hammered as a sacrificial pawn for allowing the SEC to do the same with impunity. USC and PAC 10 leadership were derelict of duty allowing it to happen...not surprising the league itself crashed.

The gloves are off. Now all colleges can invest all their resources openly. USC will do it...and as we once briefly discussed, I doubt Riley will be the man to lead this.

USC is a sleeping giant.

I'm not a fan, but don't mind them realizing their potential, as it helps Notre Dame in a great rivalry. I'm just noting their advantages in a changing college landscape. The Fighting Irish and Trojans benefit from NIL and transfers vs an SEC that used to hoard with under the table benefits.

USC beat LSU and TAMU. Only ND beat USC by > 1 TD. Times are changing...I think for the better.

I say: to hell with the SEC.

;)

No matter who would have been inserted 9-12, the 1st round results would have been the same. So the discussion of who should have been in at 9-12 is really irrelevant.

They point to the blow outs in the 1st round, yet when it was a 4 team playoff there were blowouts in those games.

sjb would have preferred to have Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. Yet Tennessee who has a far better team than those 3 was humiliated in the 1st round. It was literally the most lopsided game of the 1st round.

Would ND fans be interested in Jalen Milroe as a portal QB? Total badass dual threat and pretty good passer. Quinn Ewers, no, he sucks. But what about Jalen Milroe, even though no one has mentioned it, he could be like Ewers in that he's not going to be a high draft pick, he could still make big money in college, and then have more opportunity to hone his skills. And it seems like Bama doesn't want him back, and they're expecting him to go, I think I have that impression. And he could command really big money, and that would be like a perfect compromise and everybody wins. And Bama gets to move on and he gets to stay in college and get paid handsomely like he should, and the market will definitely bear him a lot. And then try to be a 1st round pick next year.
I would like whoever Mike Denbrock thinks gets us a Natty. He coached win of the best, he know what he needs, if he says Portal we should listen.

Yeah, we'll find out what Milroe's going to do, go pro, go portal, go back to Bama. And if he's in the portal, wow, that would be tempting. ND could easily afford him, and I think he would be interested at least in the stature of ND as far as being a total legit playoff contender. And a good program to go to in all football respects, even if he doesn't much want to come to South Bend in particular. A good business decision. But I don't think he'd pick ND even if we did make an offer, because he'll have other good options, and he'll just go somewhere else, if he does end up going to the portal.

I think this season's playoff and bowl results bolster the argument against expanding to 16 teams. Although, going to 16 teams has MONEY & profit on its side. We will have to wait and see if money wins this argument too.

I think the analogy doesn't hold. Too binary, likening this to a disease vs health.

NIL and transfers at least offer openness. That is a 1st step in trying to get it right. Not saying they will, but you never know...hence my continued faith and allegiance to the Fighting Irish.

Again, this is much better than under the table corruption...where the SEC can lord it over, pretending they were legit better. Let it be a competition of fair bidding...not exclusive under the table bidding.

the way some here drool over losing QB s is amazing. The only reason ALabama won as many as they did was overall talent; Milroe was not all that. In the big games he came up small. But some morons think just because he went to Alabama we should get him.
Nuts I would take Ewers before Milroe and I don't want either one

Alright, thank you, sir. Thank you for the input. And I think you're going to pleased, I don't think we're taking a portal QB. All signs point in that direction! Nevertheless just throwing it out there. A team like ND could do worse than to bring in a QB of Jalen Milroe's ability. It's what good managers do to win ballgames....
