This was the most hysterical result I’ve seen in the sport in quite some time all things consideredIt is kind of funny that they STILL can't beat Michigan.
That was a total failure of leadership on Day's part...he might be (MIGHT BE) a good football coach (he certainly knows how to acquire talent...using it, not so much), but he is a joke as the leader of a championship teamUSA Today has an article calling for Ryan Day to be fired after the loss/brawl. He stood there during the brawl and made no effort to get his team off the field. It was bizarre.
your comment needs some context, plenty of video on twitterX showing texas planting a flag at UM without incident..very rarely does flag planting result in the losing team charging midfield to start a fight..this goes back to 2022 when UM planted a flag after beating osu..the players were belittled for weeks after by former players on social media..obviously they had rabbit ears and decided to try to put their chest out after failing to do so for the course of the game...not sure that nd has as bitter of a rival, but this goes back decades..1973, osu ran onto the field and tore down the MClub banner that UM runs under to begin every game...tressel, who osu fans thought was a classy guy, actually mounted the ladder in front of the band and mockingly conducted while UM walked off the field after a loss... as far back as the 70's, somebody was cutting on a fire alarm in the UM hotel at 3am, cutting the hot water off in the hotel....a team under carr was pulled off the team bus by state troopers with bomb sniffing dogs outside the stadium....there has always been hatred, but tempered with respect..pretty sure respect has left the building..pictures floating around of osu fan spitting on UM players using the tunnel saturday, it's always an issue when UM goes to cbus....Michigan started it. They planted the flag at midfield. Win with class.
After the game Michigan's head coach taunted the fans, Michigan planted a flag at midfield and then some player ran through the OSU players with a flag. I despise Day and the Buckeyes and was glad they lost, but clearly Michigan was the catalyst here. The suggestion that there "plenty of video" of Texas doing this so it's not inflammatory conduct is fantastical. How did it go in NC, Arizona, and Florida this week when that happened. Don't make excuse that start with "well back in 73".your comment needs some context, plenty of video on twitterX showing texas planting a flag at UM without incident..very rarely does flag planting result in the losing team charging midfield to start a fight..this goes back to 2022 when UM planted a flag after beating osu..the players were belittled for weeks after by former players on social media..obviously they had rabbit ears and decided to try to put their chest out after failing to do so for the course of the game...not sure that nd has as bitter of a rival, but this goes back decades..1973, osu ran onto the field and tore down the MClub banner that UM runs under to begin every game...tressel, who osu fans thought was a classy guy, actually mounted the ladder in front of the band and mockingly conducted while UM walked off the field after a loss... as far back as the 70's, somebody was cutting on a fire alarm in the UM hotel at 3am, cutting the hot water off in the hotel....a team under carr was pulled off the team bus by state troopers with bomb sniffing dogs outside the stadium....there has always been hatred, but tempered with respect..pretty sure respect has left the building..pictures floating around of osu fan spitting on UM players using the tunnel saturday, it's always an issue when UM goes to cbus....
Planting a flag when you're 20pt dogs is not "classless." It's simply a part of a rivalry. If you don't want a flag planted, win the game. Simple as that.Michigan started it. They planted the flag at midfield. Win with class.
Or you could make a rule that such behavior is sufficiently savage and totally unacceptable, that your program is given the death penalty for three seasons if you ever do it. And then no one ever does it again. So you could also do that. It's not some force majeure that can only prevented by not effin' losing to your rival, and thus they get so jacked up on their own dominance, they almost have no choice but to urinate in your face, on account of the exhilaration is so overwhelming to them that it simply can't be helped. But no, it's not 'classless'.Planting a flag when you're 20pt dogs is not "classless." It's simply a part of a rivalry. If you don't want a flag planted, win the game. Simple as that.
Did he really? It was a big win for Michigan, whose defense is still good, and is packed with high NFL draft picks, and while their offense does effin' suck, they don't have a good excuse for being so bad this year. And the new coach is definitely off to a really shitty start, almost on the hot seat after one season. That's how bad Michigan was this year coming off a championship, losing a 1st round pick at QB, but not being a passing team, and still having numerous elite players in the two deep. So they got Bryce Underwood. Score. And even bigger than that, they improbably beat tOSU yet again. And then this coach who I would say is still totally off to a very bad start despite the upset, spoils it by taunting the opposing fans, and overseeing this pretty thuggish postgame display from his team, which comes off kind of like, Yeah we suck, but we pulled our shit together enough to pull off this upset, and now we're going to go a little buckwild, because our egos could use the action. And that's Michigan football, circa today. After the game Michigan's head coach taunted the fans, Michigan planted a flag at midfield and then some player ran through the OSU players with a flag. That’s a dumb comment, you act like winning as an easy task, and it’s notPlanting a flag when you're 20pt dogs is not "classless." It's simply a part of a rivalry. If you don't want a flag planted, win the game. Simple as that.
Planting a flag doesn’t hurt anyone, except maybe your “feelings.” Boo hoo. Michigan state planted a flag on ND’s field in 2005. Did we need to fight them? No, we came back in 2006 in a driving rainstorm and beat them. That’s the only revenge necessary in college football. That’s a dumb comment, you act like winning as an easy task, and it’s not
It’s hard to win !
You have to bifurcate what happens in the 60 minutes on the field from post game activities, activities that are beyond your control
Winning when you’ were a 20 point underdog is reward enough, you don’t need to be a bad winner by trying to plant your flag on your opponents field.
That’s totally disrespectful and classless
all those games you mentioned occurred after the osu-UM brawl went viral..dare i say, those teams were influenced by it..flag planting is not new, and it's not new at osu, baker mayfield being the first in recent memory..excluding the games that came after, name an incident that occurred prior to the osu-UM brawl..none come to mind...i mentioned the stuff from the 70's to illustrate that there has been "stuff" going on for decades...osu was off the field in the endzone singing "carmen", they came out to the 50 and started the fight..After the game Michigan's head coach taunted the fans, Michigan planted a flag at midfield and then some player ran through the OSU players with a flag.
