I wrote a post earlier this week saying this was a huge game for Marcus Freeman, getting to 6-3 and heading into USC 8-3, ranked, would create a real opportunity to salvage a season that looked like a disaster 3 weeks ago. He righted the ship, He deserves the full credit

Now, since i do not have the emotional maturity of 2nd grader, and the football acumen of a Kindergartener, like yourself. I can also say big ups to Brian Kelly on knocking off Alabama and the GOAT. I hope they both win National Titles, BK fished ND out of a 16-year toilet bowl of irrelevance. Rebuilt the program to CFP contention and left the place 10x better than he found it.

Truthfully, any ND fan would does not acknowledge that, is not a ND fan. I honestly hope Freeman and Kelly both have massive success. I hope Kelly wins every game he coaches, except against ND.

A backup QB isn't the reason they ran against 9 in the box all game vs Marshall. It's also not the reason they ran duo with their speed back all game vs Stanford. Those were coaching and play calling issues.

I like freeman but I'm not giving him the Weis 10 year contract for showing improvement
 
Congrats on your upset victory. Winning out looks like it is now possible. USC is good but like Clemson, the Trojans have some serious vulnerabilities.

I think ND is now that favorite. I was thinking USC was on a serious and fast rise. But yes, they’ve serious defense liabilities.

ND matches up well stylistically to USC.

I still expect USC to be elite within 3 years. But football is funny.

Yeah with a backup qb who has serious limitations. But stayed in the lab and looks to figured it out

When was the last time Notre Dame dominated a top 5 team?

I cannot remember. You might have to go back to the Lou Holtz days

Coming out of the tunnel not looking petrified in a big game was a major improvement in itself

The learning curve isn’t over, MF/ND will have valleys, losses and struggles but very positive last night. Hell BK had 30 years under his belt and still managed a 4-8 season.

This season is a train wreck. Let’s see what happens. I’d be happily wrong. Still no 2023 qb, 3 games to go and a bowl to prove he’s righted the ship from Marshall and Stanford.

I'm no expert. And I'm not trying to be pedantic. But if ND NOW gets a good QB, Freeman and Rees will know what to do...balancing with knowing we have a 1st class power run too.

It took Freeman, Rees, and HH apparently this long to understand this team. And they will I think going forward progressively make it better.

Fitting then scheme to the personnel rather than the personnel to a desired scheme. I see this all the time in soccer as well. Regardless...I think we have ourselves a jelling team now!

It isn't now, but was at one point, and threatened to derail. And as you and others spoke about, different context, as CBK inherited a terrible program while MF inherited a solid one, even accounting for a weaker QB situation.

But I'm with you, it's apparently turned, resurgent, looking like a lot of potential. MF just might be an outlier of a successful head coach at a big time program with no prior head coaching experience. I'm feeling it.

It’s no longer a train wreck since he just dominated Clemson

he has to win out and go to a Ny6 bowl game to really earn the credibility, agreed

but you not giving him props for last nite is hilarious

Annoying part is Clemson will be likely ranked 10 spots higher by the playoff committee. Their job is to rank the teams based on who they think is better. Not to rank based on records.

If SC is top 5 and we beat a top 5 SC team and keep them out of the playoff while going 9 and 3 with 2 top 5 wins, that will bring him the credibilty.

Whether they pick us for the NY6 or not.

Goal now is 10 and 3 and win your bowl game. Hopefully a NY6

Its not just in who is better. Its on resume and many factors.

You cant just put us above them over 1 game. The whole season counts

Nah, I disagree. Nobody thinks Clemson beats ND if they play again. ND likely beat UNC by more than Clemson will too. We also looked better against Syracuse.

No, but Clemson was DOMINATED. It’s one thing to lose. It’s another to get dominated so badly in every phase of the game that there’s no question who the better team is. Nobody thinks Marshall is better than ND. Everyone knows ND is better than UNC and Clemson. Sometimes teams lose games they shouldn’t. That wasn’t the case last night. The committee is supposed to rank teams based on who they think is better. Not do a record comparison like the AP poll.

ND was better yesterday. You seem to suggest it is not possible or likely that ND could lose to Clemson if they played again. Much like you previously claimed that it was unlikely they would beat Clemson.

I never said that. Regardless no I don it think Clemson would beat ND if they played again. They left no doubt They had no excuses. They are healthy and they lost all 3 areas of the game They just the better team. It’s clear. They were pushed around by bigger and more physical players. ND is more talented in the trenches and at running back. They are better defensively and on special teams.
 
They left no doubt in a single dominant home win. If they played 10 times on a neutral field, how many games would ND win? Would you bet your life?
