McCulloch to Texas, Davis to Alabama, Jones to ND Kelly to...?

defensively the front 7 is falling behind the national contending teams.
At days end a comparison of teams on the schedule can be looked at.

But, for nationally, the elite teams are further distancing from ND.

Will K2 resemble K1?

Where have we heard this from before???? Hmmmmmm....and how many times now...over 25,000.....that is lot of repeating yourself, and I thought my wife did that a lot. She could take lessons on it from this guy.

Kelly is going to Oklahoma. Look at 95% of the predictions, spot on. Now its not 100%, but most figured Davis to Bama weeks ago, McCulloch to texas weeks ago, jones to ND....weeks ago. I honestly think most kids know where they want to go and use the last month or so to build drama. I don't believe Davis for a second that he didn't know he was going to pick Bama until this morning. I do think Kelly gave ND an honest look, we may even lead w/ him for 5 minutes, but at the end of the day he's going to pick OU.

Realistically Kelly is going to Oklahoma, and that is that of that. However it would be the flip of the day to get C. Kelly to ND. That kid is just electric on the field.

well its our irish or OU for Kelly tonight and in a week or two it'll be our irish or Stanford for 5 star GA ATH Robertson

the same guys, the sunshine pumpers, will be ignoring the defensive issues and predicting an undefeated season and the playoffs! There is no draft! Recruit or ....

In truth those are the posters that adversly affect the board outlook! they distort reality, and then reality hits and everyone is shocked, "how did that happen!?"
For those that deal in the real world 9-3 is NOT a disappointing season any longer. The offense is indeed exciting, elite and fun to watch. But then the D takes the field!

well: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN

This is a typical Brian Kelly recruited class. Not bad, not great - just 8-4. Meh..... When it comes to closing the recruiting deal, Kelly is very average at best. The staff, as it's been in the past, has helped him tremendously. Need defensive help on the line and at LB. Just isn't there. 8-4, get used to it. Unless we find a super star at QB that can take us to another level.

Top Ten classes annually are not 'Meh'. If not for the injuries, ND had the talent and depth to win the national title last year. 'Meh' recruiting doesn't allow a team within one play of the playoffs on its third string (entering spring ball) QB & RB. Some of you are just disillusional and expect to sign every 5*, every year. Love him or hate him, Kelly has recruited extremely well. There are many blue blood programs that would be tickled to death to string together his classes.

to make the statements made you have to not recognize the talent hauls of the other genuine NC contenders.

ND because of a weak schedule benefited for a time. It may work that way again but in a major game it will likely be another mismatch.

your newest alias is now on ignore too

ND Football is going nowhere fast and you can see it in recruiting every year. I hate scUM but you have to give them credit. They want to win again. ND isn't in the business of winning. Harbore will be in the final four next season and will win multiple national titles. Kelly can't even beat Stanford on the road.

Thanks for checking in on signing day Coach Kotite.

you talk like Stanford is Pitt. Stanford easily won the Rose bowl and was the Pac-12 champion. Winning on the road is hard, Florida St with all their talent lost to Georgia Tech on the road. There were a lot of cases where teams lose on the road.
And ND had a weak schedule? So they didn't play a top 15 team every week, that doesn't mean it was weak. Texas and Georgia Tech were down and Virginia wasn't that good, but playing USC, and an 11 win Navy team along with the best Temple team ever to go w/ AT Clemson and AT Stanford (2 conference champs). I laugh when people want to see ND play like 6 national championship contenders every year and they complain because we don't go 11-1.

Another troll masquerading as an ND fan. Must be hard to remember to switch from alias to alias to post on this board.

starting to see a trend; disagree with 'sunshine pumpers' means you are a troll?
but a dilemma! to be 'sunshine pumper' means burying your head in the sand or putting it up your butt!

Perse I don't think you're a troll, I think that word is misused a lot here. I do think that you are just as guilty of anything wrong that you accuse "sunshine pumpers" of seeing as you don't respond with explanations when your posts are critiqued in rational ways and instead just act amazingly dismissive for someone who posts as though they want someone to engage him.

Look, you guys can complain and insult all you want. It's a average class at best. Good in some areas, but very weak in big needs (DL, LB) It's that way every year. Weis isn't here any more, so the big 5*'s are going to be hard to intrigue and pull here (yeah, I know terrible coach). The one hope is that Kizer or Zaire could possibly emerge as a difference maker - super star. Someone that can carry a team for a season. Otherwise, 8-4. Get use to it. There are lots of reasons people can site, academics, culture, climate etc. I happen to believe Kelly is a terrible game day coach. Many Kool-Aide drinkers think differently. Fine, but reality is in the final score. We have not had a top 10 finish in recruiting in a while (11 is not top ten - sorry). 8-4 is the result, God help us if we play a number of really great teams in a year.

These are, I'm sure wonderful kids. Very good players and maybe one or two will emerge as great contributors. But recruiting like this, year in and year out will not get you to compete with the top programs. Even when we get lucky, and all the stars align, like they did several years ago, once we play a NC we WILL get destroyed. So today, with this coach, this program and the present CFB environment, 9-3, 10-2 etc. = a great accomplishment. It is what it is and obviously the ND administration is satisfied - like they are with the men's basketball program. So let's hold are heads high. - It's meh....

Amazing how closely this post resembles posts by a former troll from Indiana University who masqueraded as an ND alum---practically word for word. Yeah, I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

Yet, Kelly and his staff our having players drafted by the NFL. We haven't been able to say that in 20 years. 8-4??? More like 10-2 seasons.

9-10 W's is about right; and things have changed. That is a good bench mark for success of a season.
One thing, this team will be very exiting on offense!

I'm not whatever poster you are trying to refer to. I'm a ND alum but username signed up via the Nebraska rivals page (home state team). I just have never posted here since the switch to the new board format hence the one post here.

I stand by my statement. Outside of Alabama mainly, ND has been recruiting with the best of them.

Huh? You are wrong....

Prior to this year's draft kelly (4) is under performing willingham (4.66), davie (4.2) and outperforming weis (3.8) by .2 players selected in the NFL draft per annum.

He is almost 3 players per yer below Holtz (6.7).... He is also below ND historic norms.

If he gets 6 players drafted this year he'll jump davie. With 8 he'll jump willingham.

Are those numbers for players drafted while the coach was employed, or for players recruited by the coach? That could be a big difference....and skew the numbers a bit.

Geez, this board is unreadable at times. Like most threads everyone seems to be unreasonably optimistic or pessimistic and the truth is somewhere in between.

Very good class that missed in some key areas. Since I (and a lot of other people on various boards) thinks Hayes ends up at DE, our DL recruiting was excellent. We did very well again on the OL and at WR as well.

I am a bit concerned about LB. Jon. Jones was a very good pickup with an excellent offer list. Jamir, I'm just not sure I read some thinks he is going to grow into a DE that he may be too big to be a LB. I think Perry ends up at LB so he's a project. We did great at LB last year so this wasn't a giant area of need.

We got numbers at DB but no real difference makers. Seeing how this are is thin on numbers and talent already I'm concerned about this.

Still not a feeling one way or another about our RB. Neither had a lot of great offers but T. Jones has impressed others that have seen him play.

Book. I really like this addition because he's a guy who will come in, stay 4 years and be a decent reserve you don't have to worry about transferring.

Overall, this class just lacks real impact, difference makers on defense but some good to very good players there.

Hayes is a LB; per Hayes Until someone convinces him he cannot play LB, that is his spot.
It was a snag in his original recruitment

Do you guys just look at names? Or do you actually look at the field (teams) to see how things stack up vs the competition?

Stop complaining when you do not win NC's or make the playoffs! You are uninformed for such expectations.

Marcus Camby wanted to play guard in college -- first day of practice calipari put him on the block

Camby raised that as an issue -- Calipari's response was that is where we play our guard

Good question....

These are the annual draft numbers by coach while employed at ND. (see link) Weis left kelly with a ton of talent....

The NFL draft takes place in April.

So, the 2010 #'s go to Weis as kelly did not coach a down at ND until Sept. 2010....

No, it's not an average class. It is a top 10 class.
And you harken back to the days of Weis? Weis was terrible. Doesn't surprise me that you would say that. You have regularly shown that you don't know what you are talking about. Stop the sham. Stop pretending that you are an ND fan.

Nobody....we signed a group of excellent young men ready to put it all on the line for 4-5 years, and not a nice thing to say. Keyboard Cavalry'd
We got some decent players who should be grateful for a $300k education. It is Kelly's job to win, not get some "excellent young men" willing to play hard. Jeez, you cat like these commits are doing us a favor. Perse is right. No DL. no LB's with any upside other than Hayes who will be moved to DE and probably hurt his entire career. At least we get the usual WR haul so we can throw on every down but still give up 50 points

Not a top 10 class. Go do some research.

might still get into the top 12-15

and that is where the team has played during K1

So heading into K2 with no Jaylon and no TE'O.

Waiting for the 1st 12-0 prediction!
