Notre Dame men's basketball recruit J.J. Starling got to enjoy a 105-81 victory by his East team in the 2022 McDonald's All-American Game, Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. But the star point guard didn't get to play in it because of an ankle injury.
Starling is the No. 23 player overall in the 2022 class per Rivals. He's from Baldwinsville, N.Y., and starred this past season at national power LaLumiere in LaPorte, Ind. The now 6-foot-4 senior will play for the Irish next season after signing with ND in November.
Health-permitting, Starling is set to play for Team USA on April 8 in Portland, Ore., in the Nike Hoop Summit against a team of 19-and-under international stars. He's also set to play in the Jordan Brand Classic, April 15 at Hope Academy in Chicago.
