Do you guys think if Redfield played last night, the score would have been different? I do and yet I respect and am happy with the decision ND made. ND is bigger then any one player. Redfield could have been a special player at ND but needed to pay the price.

Not much -- ND was getting beat in the run game up front. Plus, the plays where the CB's got burnt like toast would have been away from him.

Kelso, the runs were UP THE MIDDLE and draws by Swoopes in the end. Redfield was a big hitter who made some big stops.

Honestly, no, I don't think it would have made a bit of difference, but we'll never know.
With all the hype surrounding Max, he basically produced shite for three years.
It's one gigantic assumption to say he would have made any difference.

Maybe, speculative, but he might have been a better support to the corners who always looked like they were alone and isolated on the deep balls

If he would not have made a difference then why would he have been the starter ? As of Aug 15th Kelly said he was" playing at an elite level ".

Now if anyone on this board thinks that that observation is not credible than there really is no point in discussing anything .

This from the coach who couldn't see enough of a difference between DK and MZ to name a starting quarterback?

I'm not sure what's credible anymore

Sorry to call you on this, but this argument is often used and one of the lamest.
So, you.'re basically saying that 1. No coaches have ever told an untruth.
2. No coach has ever been wrong.
If that is the case, why do myriad coaches get fired every year?
Why do teams go 0-11? Oh, I know..... Injuries.

No. A big problem with our result was no proper tackling.

Max wrote the damn book on hitting a guy, then standing there bewildered he didn't fall down.

His ball skills suck like the rest of the secondary.

Redfield makes the score the same..or even worse.

Yes I do think Redfield would have made a difference. Redfield made a tons of mistakes year, but he had speed to cover some of his mistakes. Look at the Clemson game last year was one his better games. He made mistakes, but he was able to catch some recievers from behind. Devin Studstill has alot of potential but lacks experience and strength. Tranquil and Avery back there together are way to slow to play against elite recievers. This defense has no hope cause you lack athleticism up front to generate a pass rush and backend cover speed with experience to make a difference. Despite the lack of athletic safeties, this game was lost strategically. Either players were not placed in the right positions, or they just were not making the right reads. Who on earth brings the house on a blitz on 3rd down and 8, while the opposition is in the redzone with a short field. I don't belief this defense can be successful at this level with the type of players you are getting. The defensive lineman on this roster or more suited for a 3-4 alignment, and the safeties are better suited in zone coverage I guess. But these DB's can not be left on an island too long especially not Nick Coleman. Hopefully Watkins can make it back before too long.

I disagree with the athleticism. We don't know really when most of our defense is confused before the snap.

And BTW, this isn't the first time this staff is using players out of position but I don't care how athletic you are, a confused player is a tentative player no matter the 40 time.

As far as Max...Max was terrible against the run. Sure the long passes hurt but stopping the run or inability to do so sealed our fate.

Form tackling on our team is terrible and Max is about the worst.

And here come the excuses again from that crowd.
