Can't fault a guy who is enjoying spending time with his family and can retire at his age.
All you (Freeman) can do is make the best pitch available and go for the gusto.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… coaxhing will be the only reason we don’t go 11-1 or better next year… it’s trending like we’ll lose at least 1-2 games due to coaching… there’s 2-3 teams that could out play us next year but we should be favored in all or close to even money in all
Not for everyone. He retired from Georgia who would have paid him a ton of money so obviously money wasn't an issue

Osu has a better roster than us. Usc has a much better qb and skill players. Clemson never loses at home
Not saying they did some something wrong here but if you never land a good experienced coach other than HH (Rees hire) then there’s an issue if your trying to be a top program

I care about good coaches. Experience is nice but I want good coaches more. Golden also has plenty of experience

I like them as well but not Parker at OC…. My point is we may be landing coaches on the up with a little risk and that’s good, but you need to land some home run sure things too …. The coaches that will give you an advantage vs everyone pretty much guaranteed

Diaz has been up and down his whole career. Much better than Golden ? Highly doubt that. Golden is no Buddy Ryan but neither is Diaz. I'd rate them even.
Totally agree with this. Frankly, I didn’t understand his interest to begin with. He left Georgia to spend more time with his family, and so I didn’t think he was a serious candidate to begin with. Surprised he was at some level, and uprooting wife and kids turned out to be a bridge too far. He would have been a GREAT hire. There are a few others being considered that would be really good hires as well. Hope we finalize something in the next few days as having an OL coach on board before Spring training is critical imho.
I’m actually fine with hiring Chris Watt honestly. I was more concerned about who the OC would be. Watt played in the NFL, learned under HH.

Trying to hire a coach who retired at the age of 45, from a program who would have paid him a very good salary, ND did nothing wrong here. From all accounts, the interview went well, but in the end, the family simply did not want to move.

Freeman excuses starting….. we have a better roster than usc, Ohio state has a green qb, Clemson just isn’t that good right now
Ohio State has a lot more talent than us and the more talented QB. We have a better roster than USC but their QB is so much better than ours and their top 30 players are on our level, just not depth wise. When was the last time Clemson lost at home? They will also have the most talented QB on the field
Do I think we lose all 3, no. But it's easy to see how we could. We'll be underdogs in those 3 games and every team plays 1 close game with a team they should beat

Or that great OC that scored 17 against NW and Mich?
