I don't see how either of those transactions put them in a better place to get Mariotta. They need draft picks to move up and neither move netted them a draft pick.
This years and next years #1's plus Nick Foles and probably a coupla 3's...and the money to sign him...take it for what its worth...Chip didn't get himself 41m under the cap to sign a wide-out...look at the PAC 12 guys on his roster...he is making a push to get Mariotta, bank on it. Doesn't mean he is gonna get him...but he is going after him

The cap on rookie contracts means he doesn't need that much cap room. I am not saying it won't happen but I think it is just as likely today as it was yesterday that he trades up. At best the chances are marginally better, I am reading chip didn't like Shady's style or miles.

OK disagree with me if you wish, but before you do look at it from Tampa's point of view. Winston, and I am NOT getting into all the 25 username bs, does have baggage and Tampa needs more than just one guy....So you get a very good QB in Foles plus 2 number 1's as well as your own...also Lovie has come out and said they have no isues whatsoever with Winston...this is all a smokescreen to drum up more...I am telling you, being a PA guy, t Kelly wants Mariotta and he has an owner that will back him...I am sure I am wrong, but don't bet your kids college tuition against me...

Jackson I am not disagreeing with your main point I am just saying moving McCoy wasn't necessary for that goal.
That would be very wise on Tampa's behalf. They are being told not to pick Winston because of his baggage and this way is a win/win and they will improve their team. Foles is likely a better QB anyway and won't embarrass his employer as IT is sure to do.

I'm in philly , lot of talk about these moves. Nothing in stone, but it does appear that Kelly is trying to free up money. What for? Only speculation at this point but most believe he is going to go after Mariotta. If he does and gets his guy, it will be all on him. He has total say in this. In my opinion I think this is a huge gamble. No one really knows how Mariotta will be. He seems to have all the tools. However, many players have had the tools but never panned out. We will just see how this plays out. Most fans want Kelly to get Mariotta here in philly. Personally I think it is a mistake putting all your eggs in one basket. I remember the Flyers getting Lindros. They gave everything away. As it turned out, Quebec, won a few Stanley cups as a result of that trade. The Flyers, none. Also look at what the Vikings gave up to get Herschel Walker. The Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls with the help of that trade. No one player is worth giving up everything.

Jackson, I know one thing for sure. Sports talk in this town is going to be off the charts leading up to and beyond the draft. Whatever does or does not happen will be huge if your an Eagles fan. Believe me, Eagles fans are passionate. They may be loud, crude, rude and even obnoxious. However, they are very well versed on the Eagles and they know the game of football. This is a true sports city. People here live and die ( literally) with their hometown teams. The Eagles are the pinnacle of the city. These fans here want a Super Bowl more than anyone could know. They believe Kelly will be the deliverer. I'm not sold on his style winning long term in the NFL. I could be wrong. In the meantime it will be fun listening to the " experts" on the radio give their two cents worth. Stay tuned.

Jackson - USA Today is saying the same as you. Chip is clearing room to make a run at MM. They include quotes from Jon Gruden who thinks MM is a can't miss.
