*** Notre Dame extended an offer to Fort Collins (Colo.) Fossil Ridge 2021 offensive tackle Trey Zuhn, the No. 24 offensive tackle and No. 188 prospect nationally, back in May while Jeff Quinn was recruiting in the Centennial State. Zuhn camped at Notre Dame in June and at that point, I felt like he was closing in on a commitment to Notre Dame. But now, I feel quite the opposite.
*** I was told by a source on the Notre Dame side of things this fall that Zuhn wasn't much of a priority for the Irish anymore, and I spoke to someone close to Zuhn, who told me that the Irish are not one of his top three schools. Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are considered the top options for the 6-7, 276-pounder right now. I know a lot of members of this board really like Zuhn as a prospect, but Notre Dame has other guys they like more, such as Nolan Rucci, Wyatt Milum, Rocco Spindler and Landon Tengwall.
*** Notre Dame offered Fort Washington (Md.) National Christian Academy class of 2021 defensive end Monkell Goodwine a scholarship earlier this year, and I don't believe the Irish are much of a contender with him. But interestingly enough, Notre Dame is still communicating with him and reached out to him just last week. He's expressed interest in visiting Notre Dame but we'll see if that happens.
*** In an interview with the Oregon State rivals website, 2021 cornerback Ceyair Wright mentioned that he's hearing a lot from Notre Dame, Northwestern and schools out west. Wright's recruitment feels fairly simple: he is likely to stay out west, but if he does want to play a bit farther from home, Notre Dame would become the favorite. But recruiting is never simple. Wright visited Notre Dame in December for the Echoes Awards Show weekend and had a great time in South Bend.
