Its been two very, high-intensity games behind this team. I see Louisville as extremely formidable. Turnovers and penalties will be the difference plus or minus, imo....as well as needing to score north of 28 points. Not a prediction thread....just factors that will be the difference, imho.

I saw their game against NC State and felt the two teams were fairly comparable. Heading to Louisville tomorrow for the game and looking forward to it.

Louisville looks to have a top 25 offense.
Faster and better wide receivers than NC State with a less mobile but more accurate QB. We’ll definitely need to have a better pass rush than we’ve shown so far. I can’t believe we’ll have played against their QB Plummer on three different teams after this game.

I’d take a hard look at Jack Plummer if he ever entered the portal. He’s a good QB and would do some damage at ND.

Plummer will be starting against ND for the 3rd year in a row, for his 3rd team. He played for Purdue and Cal the last two years. And he's a 6th-year senior. So that won't be happening.

Its a shame how far we have come to be worried about teams such as Duke and Louisville. Sorry, but ND is not a very good football team to be struggling against the likes of Duke and worried about playing Louisville.

Sure, Louisville could be decent, put together a solid game plan and give ND fits, but we should still beat them by at least two scores, no excuses. But this is becoming the norm and the pre game excuse from the fanbase is always the same... "louisville is a good team, top whatever o or d, they are better than anyone is giving them credit for, everyone plays us super hard because we're ND... etc etc.

Sorry guys... when is this BS going to stop and when is ND going to leave no doubt, man handling teams like this?

Since we are no good, does that mean Ohio State is no good because they really struggled with us. 1 second and 1 yard from losing to lowly Notre Dame.

And if OSU is also no good now, who is good?

Duke is not a bad football team, at all. Not even close.

This is exactly right you are starting to wake up to the propaganda and see the forest for the trees congratulations

By the way I think the best Notre Dame fans are those that can see the forest for the trees and still watch the games and hope for the best even while knowing there's little to no shot of actually winning anything of note

Evidently you didn't see them piss pound Clemson who completely outplayed the Noles before falling in OT.

To be honest, I don't think this years version of Ohio State is anywhere near what we usually see out of them. I could be very wrong and if I am, I will certain come on here and take my lumps. But I see them losing two games this year, Mich and PSU.

As for who I think are the best teams in the country right now. Hard to argue with Georgia at the moment. Michigan... gulp... sure looks the part and as much it pains me... PSU has taken care of business against teams they should be.

Clemson hasn't been right the last two seasons now. Its as if they're slowly fading back into mediocrity where they used to be. They have certainly been on a rebuilding path for a couple years. They're no alabama who almost seems immune to losing players..

Clemson's starting to play well, though. They should've beaten FSU, and then had a good road win over previously unbeaten Syracuse last week.

Full disclosure - I’m a UofL alum and fan, and also a Catholic, so Notre Dame is right behind the Cards on my fan favorites list.

And in my opinion, the answer to your question is when ND joins the NFL, the Irish will dominate like you expect them to. Until then, you will struggle to beat any well-coached and talented Power5 level football team on the road.

Visit UofL’s football facilities sometime (I’ve been there many times and also to Notre Dame) and you will see that Notre Dame is actually at a significant disadvantage with a “team like this.”

Osu by far played the best team of those.

Michigan and PSU haven't played anyone and both had some meh performances

This is the game where the CBs can make some noise. If they play clean and without penalties this could be a coming out party

People used to say the same thing about Miami -- until they realized Miami had gotten good. Louisville and Duke are certainly not at the same level that Miami achieved in the 1980s, but times have changed, too.

It's not like the old days when scholarships were virtually unlimited. Notre Dame used to be fed a steady stream of great players from Catholic high schools, which also gave out scholarships to athletes.

Far more level playing field than it was in the '70s, early '80s.

FSU Miami Duke UNC Clemson Louisville would be my top 6.

Duke may win the ACC and finish with 1 loss if Leonard is healthy. It’s their era under Elko. Reminds me of what Harbaugh did for Stanford.

Louisville should not be an issue. If it is, that’s on the coaching staff.

I've not seen Louisville and can only take a stab at analytics, especially comparing through common opponents. Even reading some articles and comments by their fans.

My quick take is ND has a serious talent advantage, especially in power. I have to think ND can smash mouth the Cardinals. They had a tough time against an NC State ND hampered, albeit took the 4th quarter to wake up some echoes.

Freeman and the whole ND team remain a work in progress in jelling. I only see improvement off an already strong base. Specifically, with some WRs coming back this week, let's see how Louisville copes with more options for Hartman...as our defense surprisingly does the job.

I'd be surprised if ND can't get the same result vs the Cardinals as against NC State.

Good first post “push-up man”. You do push-ups in cucumber patches?

How many teams win the NC each year ?

ONLY ONE !
This is a fair point but it has been multiple decades since Notre Dame went into a season with the kind of roster that could beat anybody in the country -- Notre Dame has been the Cinderella team for 30 years now
