USC, South Carolina, Miami, UCF . These will have a domino effect. Hope Denbrock gets a head job if wants one. Don't want to lose him but he has paid his dues.
Forgot Maryland and Illinois

Don't think he will be a candidate for one of the top jobs but maybe lesser jobs that will be open as a result of the "dominoes".

southern cal wants him badly....
His extensive head coaching experience will have many other schools knocking down his door, but for now southern cal has a clear lead. The rumor is they will announce his hiring right before the stanford game to mess with us. Shortly after that time denbrock will consult with shaw about our playbook, defensive sets, injuries... man I hate southern cal.....
PS Rumors are starting to hit that Heistand is wanted by Kraft to replace Belichick. Kraft is allegedly upset that Brady likes him less than hoodie......he was heard crying, "but I sign the checks."

On Serius this morning they estimated that by season end there would close to 20 college head coaching jobs open. If that turns out to be the case good chance Denbrock may be a strong candidate for one.

grow up !!

Miami is a no win. Fans are apathetic beyond belief. Stadium is far from campus. From what I have been hearing, really bad training facilities. Former players want the "good old days" and Miami was trying to do everything it could to get away from that period. That's why they hired Al Golden. Inversely, USC wants to embrace the Pete years, bruises and all. Miami can't pay what the SEC can pay. Alumni and fans think a fog machine will make it all better without understanding what the deep rooted problems are. Miami can be a winner again with the right recruiting coordinator who can win back the Miami area. Butch Davis wants in. It's no secret. Let's relive the sparkling 30 for 30 days again.

Don't give up your day job...if you have one.

Pat Haden has denbrock on speed dial. He is the perfect fit for southern cal. It may end up a bidding war between miami and southern cal. (good for denbrock) Plus, if the Ravens lose tonight he could replace John Harbaugh. Apparently, denbrock once met Ozzie Newsome at baggage claim in Cleveland Airport and really liked him. That was a long time ago though.

Butch said this morning on Serius that he was DEFINITELY interested in being a candidate for the Miami job. He would be the perfect fit to turn a program in shambles like Miami around IMHO. It will take a special coach who can rally the alums to get that program back to elite. They have major challenges.

Which one? CW Post?

Can you call them for us? I am pretty sure you said you have all of them on speed dial.

No clue .... have no idea which programs will be open and have no idea if any would be interested. But I would assume with that many programs looking to change he would be throwing his name in the ring a few times if for no other reason but to start to build his brand for the future. I don't even know if he's interested in being a head coach.

Hey, it's your thread. I am backing you up. Denbrock to southern cal makes all the sense in the world..... You are very insightful... PS my southern cal contacts are legends and I was spot on about everything concerning the NCAA before it happened.... wax wanted me here partly because of that as we had a host of southern cal loyalists spreading false propaganda which I regularly blew up..... PS the last time I saw Marcus Allen socially was at a baby shower. He's still pretty stuck up....

Sniff , sniff, sniff. A big part of your life is based on you using your olfactory system.

Purdue is a MAC football program in Big Ten clothing. Their fans don't show up either. Here's the rub. If Fitz can make N'wstern competitive, then the same can happen in West Lafayette. You are dealing with a basketball culture but I don't see how that affects a competitive football program. It's simple. Win your non con schedule. Beat Indiana. Steal a couple of mid level conference games. Get to six wins. Play in some podunk bowl in Peoria, Illinois. Get some cred with recruits. Build on that.

Gee willickers, I was just agreeing with your denbrock to southern cal/other places head coaching thoughts.
Nah, a big part of my life is based on me using my brain. You should try using your's. Denbrock to southern cal....i think the Dolphins just threw their hat in the ring for him. PS I am still laughing at your handle....classic...

If you relied on your brain, you couldn't afford an Internet connection. God forbid you lose your sense of smell.

Ow, that smarts. Please tell me more about Denbrock to southern california.
Have you considered doing stand-up? You won't need to write any material. Just say what is on what's left of your mind..... You are amusing without trying to be. That's a gift. Your handle is the clearest giveaway that you know next to nothing about football or ND football. This thread you started just continues to confirm that. Thanks for the laughs.

Some of the colleges actively searching for a new coach:

UCF
USC
USCe
Maryland
Illinois
N. Texas
Miami (owes Al Golden $11.25 million--[$2.25 million/yr. until 2020])

Who will hire the best coach?

Please note that www.coacheshotseat.com lists 30 coaches that are currently on the hot seat.

Except for the their championship years the other 80 years have been punching bag decades. You might say they've reverted to their former doormat status.
Their championship years were a direct result of having a lock on the recruiting
in the Miami inner city areas. If the next coach can tap that pipeline again, there's
no reason Miami can't regain their glory.

Depends what direction the admin wants to go.

Yep, their program's turn-around in the 1980s was the equivalent of a team like a New Mexico State suddenly becoming a dominant team.

On the positive side if other programs come after your assistants it means you are doing something right.

I would love to see USC get a big name coach. It's such a great rivalry and would be pretty cool if they went back to when both were top tier teams.

I would not love to see this. Someone like Paul Hackett or Ty Willingham would be the right person for the job.

Why not? I think it is one of the top tier rivalries in college football. I'm not saying they both need to be top 5 teams, but at least both ranked.

This may be a strange and difficult year for hiring coaches as most of the really big names seem to be well ensconced. Plus, Miami unlike ND, may find themselves short of cash for a big hire.

With 30+ on the hot seat it will be an interesting carousel this year.

I would like a big hire for USC for one reason only. To bolster ND's strength of schedule. I could give a rat's behind about USC but I feel our success in a small way depends on them and all our future opponents. After all the hype given to Georgia Tech , The Jackets didn't do us any favors by losing. They made up for it big time by beating FSU and that's always a good thing.
