Serious question. When looking at their stats, Buchner is actually the better QB on paper. They both have similar strengths and weaknesses, so interesting to see what people think. Personally, I think it’s time to move on from Leonard. Seems like a good kid (as did Buchner), but he isn’t going to put this team over the top.

The point of the question was rhetorical in nature. To actually compare the two is without question putting the nail in the coffin. The fact that you actually have to think which one you’d choose is the writing on the wall that it’s time to move on.
Denbrock is not absorbing near enough blame for this.. play calling was shit. Only time he threw it over 10 yards was with the game in control and 6 min left. Price/Love combined for 15 carries…averaging 7 YPC

I'm angry at the coaching staff for simply anointing a QB the past two seasons, Hartman last year and Leonard this season, instead of having a REAL QB competition. They should fire Freeman for that alone.
Serious question. Take solace this is a free site. What are the folks paying for at the other forums? Did any of the mods or so called elite ND writers notice we got a serious iceberg coming your way? Unfortunately very hard in this day and age to get honest reporting.
Driskall whiffed on another QB. The guy can't evaluate talent. He sucks. He lost me after I bought in on his Buchner is going to be dynamic, and now he whiffed on Leonard. The guy is a tool.
Kelly's last 5 years ND was 54-9 and ND had a 57 game winning streak vs unranked opponents
Freeman has been coach for 2 years and 3 games and is 20-9. He has coached less than half the amount of game Kelly coached his last 5 years and has already lost just as many games
Not to mention losing to UNRANKED Marshall at home as a 20 point favorite, losing to UNRANKED Stanford at home as 16 point favorite, and now losing to UNRANKED N Ilinois at home as a 28 point favorite.

Marcus Freeman took an 11-1 program and a program that had been to the 4 team CFP twice in 5 years, and turned it into an 8-4, 9-3 program, ND apprears to have no business contending for the 12 team playoff, against one of the easist schedules i have ever seen ND play in history. But what do I know, I have only been watching ND football since 12/31/73
Faust, Davie and Weis had periods or streaks when you thought they had the job figured out. Then they would bring a football team out and remind everyone that they could not do the job to the standard.
You can blame the QB all you want, but Freeman is in year 3, and that has always been the year you break out as a Head Coach, or you show you cannot do the job. Guess which way this is trending?

Leonard and Hartman did not regress, they were not that good to begin with! average to below average skill.
Still blame Freeman for bringing them in and these losses are inexcusable.
Who can the Irish grab? I 100% agree with your assessment on the program. There's no coming back from yesterday's debacle.

I agree, ND it's clearly apparent ND has not had a real QB competition in 2-3 years, but that's on Buchner, if it got to his head.
