I'll take first rate as a first step... We had a lot of down years -- post '93 -- going back to Lou's 6-5-1 record in '94. Couple of 10 wins (2002 and 2006) and a few 9 win years... but no consistency since and a lot of embarrassing lapses...

With 10 win and 12 win seasons (bracketed by disappointing but not appalling 8-5 campaigns) I feel we are trending up. Under Kelly -- and in both cases with first year QBs at the helm! Wait until Kelly has an experience QB he recruited!

Silly post. I think the #2 pick in the draft was from North Dakota State. Plus, if players drafted from ND = first rate program, why did they lose 3 games and get blasted by OSU? Why did they barely beat mediocre team? You can't have it both ways. If Kelly has such good players who are NFL ready, then he can't play mediocre teams close and he can't lose 4 or 5 games per his history. On the other hand, 4 or 5 NFL players does not make a top flight team in CFB. All around, the OP's hypothesis is based more on Pom Poms and cheerleaders than logic.

What Notre Dame coaches were ever judged by how many wins they achieved in January bowl games? None. Not a single one. As usual, you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I thought the OP's post was silly. This post is ridiculous. It is so stupid, I am not sure of the point the poster is trying to make. History shows that ND did not engage in bowl games until the late sixties early 70's. Does that negate the fact that wins mean more than draft picks?

Really. And what do you base this on? That Rawl's is such a supreme talent that Procise can't compete? I bet you by mid-season, Procise has the starting job or at least 10 carries per game. Do you even watch football?
