Apparently he is "giving ND another look." Is this a "fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice shame on you" scenario or is this a matter of a young man who simply didn't feel the love and is now coming back around to the school he originally wanted to go to? We certainly could use him in this class. I don't know anything about him - anyone know more of his story?

I read a twitter post from one of the guys who writes on irish football and he basically said that he doesn't think he'll be a good fit for nd. don't know what he meant by that but maybe somebody does

Is that possibly why he decommitted? Maybe Gervin agreed but has reconsidered. I think he is a great cover corner.

The saying is "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." Perhaps he realizes he was fooled and wants to reappraise his options by looking at ND with full attention.

IDK. ND is not the school for everyone. You either get it, or you don't.

At one point he thought ND was the right fit. Later, something happened that caused him to reconsider. Who knows what the cause of his reluctance was, but I'm sure it's still there.

I don't think any scenario works in ND's favor.

I hope Todd can help the young man. I think he let outside voices sway him. Come home Kalon.

ND board is very active .just wondering if he is anther playing us ,wanting to keep his name out there . Gervin is like a lot of high school stars looking to get to the pros . Is it the education or the football ?

From what I've read, Lyght reached out to him again, and he was receptive. Maybe the kid got scared away with negative recruiting about last year's performance, and Kelly being listed as number one on the hot seat, etc... Maybe the schools he is interested in have been filling up his position with commits while he stays uncommitted. Maybe he sees the caliber of this year's recruiting class thus far and realizes things are looking exceptional for a team that had a 4-8 record, etc... Whatever the reason or combinations of reasons, the kid is talented in an area of need, and absent any real known concerns about character, I hope he does commit.

I for one am glad he's reconsidering if this is true.

ND isn't for everyone-----can we all agree on that ?

That goes for Bama , PSU , Ohio St and Stanford.

There's no perfect places----wherever you go there's going to be good times and tough times.

I read on Monday also that Michigan isn't even recruiting him even though the Detroit Free Press named him the top player in Michigan. cass tech is one of Michigan's top feeders for players and so maybe he is having issues off the field but who knows

In the aftermath of Keith Washington's departure, Michigan is back to recruiting CB's. Will take 1 more in '18 but they are not now nor were they previously recruiting Gervin.

They offered Gervin before ND did. After he committed to ND they moved on.
When he decommitted they were already solid with others.
But they did indeed recruit & offer Gervin.

Maybe the writing was on the wall with admissions and those issues have been cleared up now. Who knows?

If he does commit, hopefully he sticks around longer than a semester.

Love to have him, but again, ND isn't for everyone.

Just to clear this up, it wasn't an admissions thing or a "fit" thing.

When he decommitted ND contacted him immediately & tried to change his mind. He said in his own words that "he didn't feel like talking to them at that time, nothing against ND or the coaches."

Now it seems he has had a change of heart. Now he has opened communication back up with ND. But now Coach Kelly has stepped in which may be why he had a change of heart?

Either way, he is visiting ND twice now, an OV & one on his own dime.
