Rumor is he’s thinking of transfer or possibly nfl. Maybe just trying to get more $$$ out of FUND

I don’t think he’s that good but we really need the depth. I think he plays like SDE but he’s too small to truly hold up like we need and not athletic enough for vyper. Hopefully gobaira rumors aren’t true if ademilola is leaving.

I thought botelho showed more than Justin but I hate losing quality depth

Hopefully he stays

What’s the Gobaira rumor?

Yea, what’s the Gobaira rumor? I’m excited about this guy.

Me too, just that he had one foot out the door before the bowl game.

There has to be some issue with Washington. The dline regressed and to me didn’t play as hard as last year.

I did, and others did. I said it was a rumor, i hope it's not true because I think Gobaira and botelho are our best chances for really good pass rushing currently in house.

I do not believe Gobiara has any issues with ND or playing time as he has several years yet. Stop with unfounded rumors.
I stated it was a rumor, there's also legs to the ademilola stuff more than just a rumor. He very well may play at ND this upcoming year but there's been some back and forth. Reporters making it sound like ND may be ok if ademilola leaves.

You really don't rumors posted? That's what most things are that we hear from reporters as ND has become much more controlled in their information going out.

You take it to a new level…

I’ve read that Justin is 50/50 between staying or declaring for the NFL. I actually think Justin is a key rotational player, and he will be sorely missed if he declares for the NFL. I don’t see Botelho as a SDE at all. I hope he comes into next season in great shape and starts at vyper.

I do think Washington was a bad hire. DL play was underwhelming given talent on roster.
The dl is too small. Elston didn't recruit well his last cycle for need. Good players but the interior is getting too small. When we are taking grad transfers from Harvard to get size there is an issue.

I do think Washington underperformed this year, but he also didn't have the players that we have had in the past. The "talent" on the dl has been grossly overstated. We have some good pieces and we have some young pieces that need to develop...in between is a glaring gap.

I'm not concerned about pass rush nearly as much as run stopping. Botelho showed he can be disruptive from the viper spot.

agree on both, botelho is a vyper, no way SDE. Justin can play both decently just isn't going to be the game changer/disruptor we need. But good quality depth you can rely on (when not 15 yards downfield covering TEs and slot wrs! lol

I don't know. Botelho looked as good as any DE when given big minutes. Washington was forced to do this

Mills was wrongfully used all season when we needed size inside. Once he moved inside more, he played really well

Clearly didn't play Lacey more when he was playing much better than Jayson A, so the dude transfers. Then cross gets injured and wasn't the same really the rest of the season. It would have been really nice to have had lacey vs Stanford, USC, etc.

Yes we didn't have size we needed, but i also think washington wasn't very smart in how he utilized his players

Both had zero eligibility left
I think they announced so people would realize they will be in the draft and want to help their cause getting invited to combine. I'd have to think neither are locks to get drafted. Both need to get healthy first!

Seems like a lot of us like what Botelho brings. He looked terribly out of shape at the Gator, and still played well. I also thought Junior looked impressive at Vyper for his limited game and position experience. I actually think Vyper will be a position of strength next season.

Despite all the hype around Mills making the move to SDE, I thought he was mediocre at best. Agree with you that he played much better inside after he was moved back, and we definitely need his size. Mills and Rubio would make a good two deep at tackle.

Nose tackle concerns me the most. I love the toughness and quickness that Cross brings. Against good matchups he is able to use this to get past OL and penetrate and be disruptive. Against bad matchups, he gets blown off the line. Regardless, given his size and attributes, he’s not built to plug up the interior and Make life easier for our linebackers. We really need some size here, and our best hope might be that Aiden K is fully recovered and ready to contribute day 1.

SDE Is going to require some young guys stepping up. We have serious potential here, with the likes of Gobaira and Traore, but I’m hoping Vernon comes in and makes an immediate impact. If none of these young guys are ready, I think we’re back with Mills and Nana providing decent play, and we need better than decent.

Overall, too Many ifs and question marks to be confident in our DL for the coming season.

Declared for nfl

Sounds like he may not have liked his situation for next year

Or maybe he just decided it was time to move on, after 5 years. Especially since his twin brother was moving on.

Hopefully we'll be able to find enough depth without him.

Dl is going to be rough. I do like bothelo at vyper, but you need more than one and I do not like our other options short of freshmen.

I think we have some good big ends on the dl....but most are playing inside. The Dt and ng recruiting under Elston got really bad at the end. Lots of projects. We are not a national title contender without a better dline.

Honestly I wonder if any of the buried olinemen played any dline and would consider a switch.

The idea ND may be looking towards a 3 man dl with a 235-250 lbs flex end to be multiple seems disasterous when it's not anchored by a space eating 300 lber in the middle.

We can play all the great lbs we want but if we go to a three man front and the Dt can't eat multiple blockers we are going to have major issues.

I mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago, that this is a make or break year for Rocco. I raised the possibility of him not being one of our best five starting OL, and the fact he played DL in high school, and dominated there as well. I hope Rocco wins A starting guard spot along with Billy, but if not, I would like to see him compete on the DL. He’s got great size and power, and would hate to see him transfer.

i'm expecting ND to land a good vyper in the portal (vaughan)

And his father was an NFL DT as well.

It’s too bad we missed on the Western Michigan player. Norvell is a fraud.

He had a really good season and they will be the acc favorites next year. They'll be preseason top 10
I’ll believe it when I see some consistency. Other than OL, talent has never been the problem.

Nasty, not familiar With Vaughan and was hoping he was more of a SDE. Assuming you’re right about Vyper, that gives us too many at that position: Vaughan and Botelho and Junior and Burnham. Botelho has earned a lot of playing time at Vyper imo. Junior needs to be on the field next season. Burnham is still an unknown quantity, at least to me. Seems either Botelho or Junior gets moved then to accommodate Vaughan, so which and to where?

Gobaira to SDE maybe.

Both had zero eligibility left
One of the twins had a year remaining -- just chose not to use it.

On Friday, graduate senior defensive end Justin Ademilola announced he will enter the 2023 NFL Draft pool rather than return to Notre Dame for a sixth season.

His twin brother Jayson Ademilola, a graduate senior defensive tackle, exhausted his final season of NCAA football eligibility in 2022

Yes. Justin had a year.

Jayson and Bracy were who he was referring to "declaring" and they both had zero eligibilty left

I have assumed this all along. Doesn’t impact the Vyper question.
He came in as a vyper and is still there. Hasnt been moved yet

But if we get a transfer and you have 4 guys, top 2 play

Botelho, Burnham, Jr, transfer

Best 2 play, if its not Jr he goes back to Mike and that ends that question

Talent has been a problem. Theyve upgraded and their QB is a stud. Hes coming back
They lost a lot of games to a lot of teams with inferior talent. The coaching and development has been a head scratching disaster. I’m not sold on Norvell.
