Jhonny Williams to Visit Michigan

Best of luck to the kid.
He was stuck pretty far down the depth chart. I hope he gets to pursue his dream of playing football.
It should be easier to accomplish the depth chart climb in Ann Arbor.

his leaving ND reason was to be closer to home to help with fam issues; is Mich closer to home?

That was his stated reason. The reason was he was not likely to see the field at all this year. And, based on where he sat in the depth chart, he may have never seen the field.

this kind of response is always funny to me. Not sure why fans feel the need. Have you looked at UM's D-line? Not a weak spot. Have you seen the H.S. kids this staff is in on? Do you really believe it will be easier to play on UM's D-line in 2 years (Williams will have to sit a year) than ND? If you recall, Jhonny was a Mizzou verbal before flipping to ND. He said yesterday that he never felt comfortable at Notre Dame. Maybe it's because of the competition or maybe he's like a lot of kids who go away to college and never quite get acclimated. My guess is it's a combination of many things. He likely also sees one hell of an opportunity to get coached up which maybe he didn't see at ND. After all...Harbaugh.

Simple fact is he wasn't going to "survive" at ND.
There was a subtle paring of ways. Read the tea leaves as related to his transfer.

Im beginning to think you would give Harbore a blowjob if you could. You are the definition of scUM fan and quite pathetic too.
Of course he'll feel comfortable at Michigan. He won't have to go to a legitimate class ever again now.

read his exit interview. He discussed things relative to his state of mind during spring;
"...This was just a decision about family. My family has been going through some stuff and my mom is dealing with some stuff and I just want to be a little closer to home right now. My mind has been elsewhere and that's where my focus has been. Things are much better now, so I want to find a fresh start somewhere and put my focus and attention into it 100-percent...."

as for the link, Rom you probably couldn't read it if you found it, so don't waste your time.

Berrien Springs is right across the state line from South Bend. I think Williams meant that he chose ND because of proximity to home. But now that his family issues seem to be resolved, he's decided to go elsewhere, someplace that may be a better fit.

that would not be adequate reason to give full release from a scholarship "oh, I used you when I needed you, but I don't need you anymore, so I would like to use someone new"?

so in your mind, the student-athletes are "using" the schools? Any chance "perseverare" is a pseudonym for Mark Emmert? lol

This kind of post reminds me of when some ND fans would cite our record against southern cal when we were getting drilled by them on an annual basis---as if that somehow lessens the pain of losing. We both know it's really a feeble retort. When that's your only comeback, you're clearly grasping at straws to take solace in something. Evidently, last year's loss and knowing you have to live with it for awhile still really stings.

Ha, no, not quite. We beat you twice 38-0 in the recent series, so I suppose you were due. Congrats on your win, but unless you guys have a change of heart, Michigan will continue dominating the all time series for the foreseeable future.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, except for one small problem: UM wasn't getting drilled by ND on an annual basis like ND was getting drilled by USC. In fact, the record speaks for itself:

1 yr lookback: ND 1-0
2 yr lookback: 1-1
3 yr lookback: ND 2-1
4 yr lookback: 2-2
5 yr lookback: UM 3-2
6 yr lookback: UM 4-2
7 yr lookback: UM 4-3
8 yr lookback UM 5-3
9 yr lookback: UM 6-3
10 yr lookback: UM 6-4
15 yr lookback: UM 8-7
Series: 24-17-1

So, yes, ND got the better of UM last year but that's about all you got over us.

Ha, actually yes, it still stings---much like it did for the ND fans who would have to resort to citing our all-time record against southern cal to lessen the pain of getting pounded by our rival annually. But keep telling yourself that it doesn't. It will help you sleep better at night.

Not really. ND has won 2 of the last 3. And the series is tied 15-15-1 since it resumed in the 1970's.

I repeat:
1 yr lookback: ND 1-0
2 yr lookback: 1-1
3 yr lookback: ND 2-1
4 yr lookback: 2-2
5 yr lookback: UM 3-2
6 yr lookback: UM 4-2
7 yr lookback: UM 4-3
8 yr lookback UM 5-3
9 yr lookback: UM 6-3
10 yr lookback: UM 6-4
15 yr lookback: UM 8-7
Series: 24-17-1

Now just stop before you embarass yourself further.

Nah, I'd put citing an all-time record against an opponent after getting drilled by them in the last game to end the series in the same category---especially when you guys were shooting your mouths off about drilling us in the weeks leading up to the game. It smacks of desperation and trying to save face (which is what I thought about the ND fans who cited our record against southern cal). Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion. Best of luck next season, especially against the Buckeyes.

I don't think it's fair to select data from time periods that conveniently support your opinion. You have to include the whole record. ND fans would do the same if the roles were reversed.

Would you trade a thorough 31-0 win over USC in your latest game for a reverse of the USC-ND all time series results? IMO most ND fans prefer having the historic domination. But as always, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

24-17-1

I agree. And there is no doubt that Michigan has the record against ND. He said that ND doesn't have anything to talk about except winning last year. They do. They just can't talk about the whole record.

Normally, I'd agree with that. But Michigan has always treated this series as one of convenience, which has robbed the overall record of this series of any true meaning.

When Notre Dame rises, Michigan does the "we can't find time for you" chicken dance with the schedule. Its a Michigan tradition.

I think it is pretty funny when UM fans come to ND boards and post "24-17-1". What they fail to admit is that they are jumping up and down over a few wins prior to 1940 that gave them the early lead in the series. I really don't care. Most recent results? UM got drilled by ND 31-0 last year (37-0 if not for a poor personal foul penalty). UM also lost the all time win percentage back to ND last year. UM is a long way from being relevant, even in the BIG. Enjoy another 5 to 6 loss season in 2015.

Pers- well the staff allowed it. Who knows what Williams' reasons were (academics, depth chart, etc)? We needed to lose a few to make it to 85 anyways. So this shouldn't be too big a loss.

Yes, it is true that Michigan has dominated BOTH of our blue blood rivals throughout history. It won't be long before we are back on top.

Your definition of "throughout history" is markedly different from mine.

But more to the point---what of person goes over to another team's board to thump his chest about games that were played in the 1800's? You are as bad as those Florida St. people who visited us last October. I have never posted on the Michigan board. What makes someone want to go over to another board and behave a like a 12 year old?
