Jeter

To add to his success story, the CFP committee seems to have insisted on using its own football for every playoff game, and it's awful for kickers and punters. IU's punter wasn't the only one playing like garbage in the 1st round. Punting averages have been WAY down for the playoffs, and missed field goals have been frequent. Some kickers have even been missing field goals short from less than 50 yards, which just isn't a thing in modern college football.

Jeter in this playoff is like a track runner who was forced to run on cinders instead of a modern surface and still got his best time of the season.

Healthy again.
Exactly.

I don't know too much about kicking, but with a hip injury it would seem to be very difficult to swing through the ball. Most of his misses were out to the right, and so that would make sense to me. Now he appears to take that hip and bring the leg all the way around, thereby driving through the ball.

Just my opinion.

hip injury to a kicker is like a shoulder injury to a QB
and considering the margin of error is less for a kicker, maybe like a sprained wrist to a QB
