Is Wimbush hurt?

He's got 3 weeks to get healthy, a bad UNC team followed by a bye. If guys are going to be nicked up next nows the time, if true hope it's nothing serious

He’s wearing a boot which I understand is pretty routine if a player bruised or strained the foot/ankle, which expedites the healing process. Reportedly walking around without a limp on the field after the game, and have read nothing to suggest this is serious or non game related.

If the rumor is true he won't be healed in time for the USC game. Hopefully Book is ready.
Lol..
Book completes 75% of passes for four scores in a convincing win against USC. The recievers catch the ball and make a play because it's on target and they get it in stride.

Poor BK can't catch a break. Just when things start going better a full blown QB controversy appears.

At this point I'm not worried about this and I honestly can't say the Irish are a better team with Wimbush at QB and neither can you...given the atrocious accuracy displayed.
Book might be miles behind Wimbush but at this point Wimbush has so much room for improvement on his passing who knows. Maybe the offense is more explosive with Book. Nobody here knows this. Period

Clueless. Wimbush is by far the best option at QB.

You left out, Book goes 4-0 and is named the starter, whereupon BW transfers to FSU.

I read on TOS that there is a rumor going around that he broke a bone in his foot outside a bar. Hopefully it is a BS rumor..
I’ve seen that posted as well, but no credible source has confirmed this version. Kelly has his regular Tuesday media briefing in a few hours, and this is certainly going to be talked about, either directly or in response to questions. Sure hope the bar version is bogus.

Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush "day-to-day" with right foot soreness, no structural damage

The report I read stated that he had no structural damage after and MRI was done (which I take to mean nothing broken). He developed some soreness in the foot Saturday after the game (said nothing about being at a bar!), so he was placed in a walking boot.Currently on a "day to day" status.

Nice to know that we have a capable backup in Book if he needs to go.

This probably will not happen, I'd play Book Unless Brandon is 100%, even 90% I'd sit him, why bang him up against a bad UNC team. Keep him as the backup and if Book is completely ineffective than evaluate at half time.

And who is the capable back up to Book? Can't just have the back up hand off because Carolina is liable to play all 11 guys at the LOS.

Sam

Samething as if Wimbush is physically unable to perform Saturday?
Well, Book has a little game experience, has taken around 40% of the snaps at practice according to BK, and we know he can throw. Who is behind Book that has any experience besides holding for extra points and can run the offense other than handing off? Avery probably has been on the scout team so that leaves MVG I guess. If BW doesn't dress Saturday, Book has to stay healthy not only for the game but as a capable replacement for BW the rest of the way.

Just going off what kelly has said, i worry that it is severe plantar fasciitis from a grade 1 or 2 sprain/strain. Is it close to a grade 2? Man this can go really wrong if managed wrong. It's kind of like dealing with a groin injury. He can play with it but you can eliminate any plays with him running.

If BW can't run the ball our offense goes nowhere. He can't be successful just throwing. Not yet. Maybe never. He can run alrught and his take off threat helps onen uo recievers. If he can't run and must throw we'll be challenged getting first downs let alone score.

Where are you coming up with plantar fasciatias ? That is something that comes about over time. Doubt very much that is the injury.

In the absence of more definitive Info, and what is generally perceived as Kelly’s penchant for understating injuries, we will continue to see posts where folks fill in the blanks or read between the lines or pass along unsubstantiated rumor, etc... I hope this is just tenderness following the game and a precautionary move, and I hope we see a healthy Wimbush on the field Saturday, as he needs the continuity of game experience to get better, especially in the passing game. If not fully recovered, I think Kelly will play Book thinking we are good enough to win this game without Wimbush, and figure that the bye week gives Wimbush the cumulative time to get healthy for the USC game. I would assume we will know something more definitive by tomorrow.

It comes on depending on the cause of it. Yes a bone spur and improper biomechanics is a gradual onset. A sprain/strain is mostly a 24 hour onset. Being that the information provided says that the MRI and x ray came up negative then a subtle stress fracture is ruled out. I assume ankle and Achilles is ruled out because I would assume ankle would be used instead of foot. Just blog talk.
