Irish to host New Mexico in 2019

I live in Philadelphia ( stop the jokes) but I was hoping we could schedule Villanova or some other pattsy in the Delaware Valley.

Never thought I'd see the day of a Notre Dame / New Mexico game. Quick check shows their last winning season in 2007. Anything can change in college football though. The only disaster could be looking past the Lobos towards Georgia. I will be looking forward to seeing Bob Davie back in the ESPN booth in the next few years. I did enjoy his work.

Western Michigan, UMass, Tulsa, Nevada et al. It's not like we play 12 games against P5 games every year. Though we do play more than some P5 teams do.

So western Michigan and ball state and Tulsa. Those are all okay. But New Mexico. That's the line to far?

Here's the thing. ND already has a pretty tough away schedule that year and had games with VTECH, Navy, and USC at home.

You can't play a top 25 team every single week in a system where the margin for error in making the playoff is 1 loss in the year. Anywhere.

I fully am aware of SDST, Nevada, Western Michigan and all the rest and I am painfully aware of the losses that ND has incurred. I also understand that ND cannot play Alabama every week. All I implied was that twenty years ago, fifteen years ago, ND vs New Mexico was a game that was never going to happen. Things change. I never said one time that I was against this game. I also said that anything can happen in college football so save the lectures. I am just as aware of what's going on with the current landscape of college football as you are. With the Good Lord's blessing, I will be at the White Lot when it opens for the Lobo game just like I was for SDST, USF, UConn, Tulsa, WMU, and whoever else I'm forgetting.

I loved Michigan game day. The campus was really alive and met tons of great Michigan fans over the years. It was also classic seeing the Wolverine helmets up close in person. I would love to get that game back, especially with Harbaugh running the program.

Don't forget San Diego State. I was at that game and it was needlessly a nail-biter. Thanks, Charlie.
