If BK can't win here then we are in big trouble!

If BK leaves what top coach in there right mind would want to come to ND? It's true, and we all see it, that ND does not and can not get the same athletes as the other top tier programs. We might get one or two studs but the majority of what we recruit is academics. Kids that will graduate. Love it or leave it that is ND.

ND used to win a championship every decade - now we are working towards half-century. You think there is a problem? Alabama is playing for its 4th in 7 years.

And there was a time before coach Saban when there was no hope.

Coach Kelly is not the be all end all. Another will fill the spot.

With, or without coach Kelly the Irish will have their day in the sun again.

Alabama proves it can happen

To have our day in the sun again we may have to compromise on few things.

I can think of one coach that might be able to win here

Frustrating thing is ND already has comprised on a few things such as higher pay for head coach and assistants, improved facilities, early enrollees allowed, and if I'm not mistaken during the Weis years academic restrictions were loosened a little.

If you expect ND is going to sell out like you want them to, don't hold your breath. Won't happen, so you may as well deal with it or go support a football factory.

Again I don't need a loser like you to tell me what team I should support. Most other schools don't have any worse ethics than ND (what's wrong with Stanford's ethics?).

It's just a nice excuse that helps your sleep better at night after a loss oh well 'at least we have better ethics' so what if we lose to a top 10 team by 20+ points every year.

Won't happen. Chip Kelly has a lot of baggage with the NCAA and got sanctioned by the NCAA. But of course having no ethical standards, you wouldn't care about that.

I doubt your ethical standards are any better than mine you just shout louder that's all.

to me unethical things would be lying, stealing, cheating etc. But if you are accusing other schools of being unethical because they accept JUCOs or grey-shirt players that's ridiculous.

Please tell me which top ten team beat us by twenty points this year. Exaggerating and making up nonsense to support your feeble points only makes you look more foolish. Just like when you said Stanford is better than ND "year after year" and then had to backtrack later when it was pointed out that ND beat Stanford last year and barely squeaked out a victory this year in Palo Alto. If your so enthralled with Stanford, perhaps you would be less angry if you pull for them.

No, he can't. ND would never hire him. The guy left Oregon under a cloud. He was given a now expired show cause lsiting by the NCAA. No way ND would touch Chip Kelly.

The OP doesn't care since he hasn't a clue what ND is about.

Look Auburn,Ole Miss and others have all these 4-5 stars including USC and they aren't doing any better than ND. ND is getting depth and that is what is needed. Now all ND needs is a op notch DC. LSU got one. There is no reason ND can't find one. 2 years and ND D is regressing instead of progressing.

Another useless comment
Die Irish -- I think what is becoming clear to me is that this ( perse ) pathetic cretin has found his way onto this board and in his sick mind has made this his home ( 25,000 posts ) in his sick delusional state he sees himself as some half assed moderator . Unfortunately along with this comes this obsessive negativity toward Coach Kelly . Just for kicks I monitored his volume of posts after a win , he actually did not post for two days , I assume he was grieving the success of the coach and team . After the loss vs ohio state he posted 90 times in 24 hrs .

Sick guy -- good news is he is old and hopefully Alzheimers will set in and he will forget how to use a computer , better yet he simply may .........

BTW any poster that interfaces with him in any positive fashion loses a lot of credibility in my eyes . I assume any poster that befriends this utter buffoon is A ) stupid B) knows nothing about football C) hates Notre Dame . Just my opinion of course .

It's not compromising. It's called staying up with competition.

Ok. By 16 poin Ohio state could have scored another td at the end if they really wanted to.

Loser where did I back track about stanford? Stanford has won 3 bcs/New Years day bowls in last 5 years we have won a big fat zero in last 22 years. Think about it 22 freaking years without a major bowl victory

Your quote was: "they play better football than us year after year." I then proceeded to point out that we beat them last year and they squeaked by with a last second field goal this year at their place. Then you backtracked by implying that last year's victory somehow didn't count because Stanford was only 8-5. Just like you're backtracking on your previous comment that ND got beat by twenty points by top ten teams---a demonstrably false statement. Now you say "well, Ohio State could have scored more than 16." But that's not what you stated initially---so that's backtracking to cover up your idiotic comment.

Again, if you're expecting ND to engage in the practices you're advocating, you're wasting your time. Get it through your thick head: it's not going to happen. You can scream and pound your fist until you're blue in the face, but ND is not going to become a football factory. So perhaps you would be happier and less frustrated following another football program. You obviously don't get ND at all. Strange that I've asked you where you attended college, but you won't say. Perhaps your alma mater has a football program more in line with what you're looking for.

Oh, and "loser"---you're the one whining like a baby and demanding things that will never happen. Lol!

Rival's 50...............

Oh my goodness................changes and more changes! Haven't you noticed all the changes in recent years for ND football???

* Turf

* Going out and aggressively recruiting really young kids the same way other elite programs do.

* Stadium improvements to keep up with the elite.

* J-U-M-B-O-T-R-O-N

*
Foreign players

* Kicking a player out for cheating and then letting him back in. (even though he did transfer)

* Actually getting a Bowl invitation every year.

* Ending the Michigan rivalry.

* Becoming a full time member of the ACC in all sports and partially in football.

* Uniform changes now and again in different games to attract more recruits. (and sell more product)

* Training table

And the list goes on and on. What's next in order to keep up with the elite teams? JUCO's, new approaches to strength and conditioning, different college majors to reflect the interests of minorities, nutritional consultants like other schools, different offensive and defensive schemes? How about joining the ACC full time in football and playing in Conference Championship games.

In recent years many of the posters on this very board vowed these changes would never happen at ND. And yet, they are happening and will continue to happen. Change is inevitable.

Bama has nowhere near the academic restrictions ND has and they play in the south. That is huge and easy for them to pluck Florida kids. Their situation is way different. We won't see another national title again. But, with the right coach, ND could win a major bowl game again. Kelly isn't that guy.

BTW, you must be one of the posters that swore the list of changes posted above would never happen.

Well..........those changes all happened..................and more are most certainly coming.

Whoa Nelly, best hold on as..........you ain't seen nothin yet!!! :rolleyes:

Nope, not among those posters---I was happy about the training table, early recruiting, etc... Despite that, you're still the clueless rube you always have been.

Notre Dame will win a National Championships.

No doubt.

Coach Kelly got them there so it can be done.

Though IMO the defense will need to be of 2012 quality, and the offense much like that of the 2014 Music City Bowl, Or something in that manner that will control the ball.

Though Ohio St has the blue print as well on the offensive side.

MZ, or Kizer with Adams (who is going to be one of the best ever at ND) along with Brown, Robinson, T Hunter Jr , Sanders you have all the making of a championship team barring injuries.

It's hard to argue with a dumb ass like you. Go watch the tape of OSU-ND game and tell me that Ohio State couldn't have scored again if they really wanted at the end of the game. They did not want to run up the score and just tried to kill the clock. It was amusing that BK started calling time outs when Ohio State was just being nice to not add on to our misery. Please post a poll here to gauge opinion of other as to who has better program year after year since BK's arrival (us or Stanford) you will see how big of a moron you are for not realizing what everyone already knows. At least you didn't refute the fact that Stanford has won 3 new years/BCS bowls in last 5 years and we haven't won any in 22 years.

Stop preaching to others what team they should follow. I get ND. ND lately is all about being a laughing stock of college football world. Everyone including us ND fans know what the result would be when we face stanford/Bama/OSU/Oklahoma etc in post season play. No one expects ND football to do anything of significance except a loser like you. A loser that's completely satisfied with 8-9 wins every season. I did not demand.. I'm in no position to demand.. I just gave me opinion as to what changes might be needed to win again.

Why are you so angry? Did I touch a sore spot?
No, not satisfied with 8-9 wins. We won our last national championship (1988) my freshman year at ND. So I know it's been a long, painful drought.

Anyone who thinks that ND should prostitute itself to become a football factory doesn't get ND. Period. As an ND alum, I remain puzzled why anyone with your view of ND would even be a fan. Just baffling. Where did you go to college? Did you go to college?

Also note: a notorious Florida troll and ND-basher liked your post. That should tell you something about your viewpoint.

Brian Kelly is a great coach, and ND isn't gonna do any better elsewhere. Wanna go back to the Weis-Willingham days? We're lucky to have Kelly.
