We have room for what, 6/7 more guys? Assuming no decommits, in an ideal world we’d land

Rushing
Scott
KVA
Tae
Beasley
Lambert
Shaw
Nelson

That would put us at 27 which is probably a bit much. Of those guys, the only lock is Tae. Rushing and Scott I think are gone, which puts us at 25. If we could sign the rest of those guys, this would probably still be the best class we’ve had in awhile. Lambert and KVA are probably the most important left that we have a real shot at…

Realistically, IMO, the 2023 class... on paper, will be better than 2024.

I agree it’s trending towards that. Guerby and KVA would put this class right up with 23 though. Throw in another stud like Nelson or Beasley and I think it’s surpasses 23.

If we close this class with Tae, Shaw, and a few more 3 stars then this class will be solid but still needs to be stronger in 25.

What I appreciate most going forward is that the 2022, 2023, and it looks like the 2024 classes are all solid classes.

I hear words like "solid" "nice" etc. get used to describe NDs recruiting classes quite often.

When your competitors are monopolizing the top 100 recruits every year though, and you are getting your recruits from your competitors' bargain bin, it isn't "solid" or "nice" it's disappointing as all hell, especially for those fans who actually want to see ND at the top again.

Look who crawled out of his hole. What a treat.

I am back and forth. I am not satisfied with how we are doing considering the head coach was hired to recruit lights out. That said, nobody could do better recruiting than Freeman and we like him. Depends on the angle you’re taking. Either way, it is all on the AD. If the plan was to recruit “solid” classes then the HC hire should’ve been a developer of talent, not a recruiter with no track record of developing talent. A known commodity. You don’t hire someone talented at something when your organization y does not allow that talent to prosper. It’s like putting Barry Sanders at DL. He can run all over and get nowhere. It’s a useless complaint at this point. Now we just have to watch and and try not to say told ya so.

I am more than happy with the outgoing AD, thankful he hired Brian Kelly, I am more than pleased with the incoming AD, and let's allow Mr. Bevacqua to assess Marcus Freeman himself the next 2-3 seasons. I am certainly happy with Marcus Freeman.

Jack did some good things but hiring Freeman to out recruit the Weis and BK eras in the NIL world when what our kids need is development is still not fully clear to me. Maybe I will see the light. Or, maybe Pete will let him work.

Mr. wash,rinse,repeat.
funny enough that is exactly how i would describe the notre dame program for much of the last 10 years or so

when the narrative around ND nation changes to reflect reality, you won't see me making the same points over and over again

Next year's LB class is outrageously talented compared to this year. Considering our last two lb classes I have no problem passing on some guys this year. Same with oline. The biggest issue I have with this year's class is safety and I think freeman has to consider a change there at some point.

If KVA were to commit first, I think they might pass on Shaw. If Shaw commits first, I think they would absolutely find a spot for KVA. Personally, I hope they get both.

Beyond tiresome.

Does not like 10 win seasons and playoff appearances.

I dont know if they would take Shaw right now but I could be wrong

A few coaches absolutely could do better, not sure anyone would put in better effort.

Freeman’s lack of coaching experience, player development, and our 2022 awful losses are having an impact. A great 2023 season that we should have if there’s player and coaching development should kick start elite recruiting.

A garbage narrative.

Recruiting isn’t going great… it’s a fact. What the reason or reasons for it is opinion.

Sam Hartman is the main reason why we should have a really good season.

Hopefully that helps freeman and staff land some top choices finally

Nonsense

Gosh, now we will be treated to more Notre Dame Football recruiting wisdom from Get Nasty.

"Can't Wait."

Beats reading being lectured about a Jadarian Price achilles injury.

Good golly -- do you have a flippin clue as to what is going on?

Driskell’s underrated guys…

Alt
Morrison
Mullins

He was right on the first two. Called them both top 50 before they ever signed with ND. Now he says Mullins is top 50. If so, we have a freakshow.

Wow. That’s incredible. He really called it and said those guys could be top-50?

I disagree with this part of the post.

Freeman was getting praise for being a great recruiter but that was as an assistant with a brand name coach (Kelly) running the ship at ND, and Fickell at Cinci.

Now he's on his own and he's disappointed as a recruiter so far (not to say there haven't been some extra obstacles in this new environment for sure) but i think Freeman's reputation as a recruiter is a bit overblown; his message doesn't seem to be resonating with highly in demand prospects right now and we can't just chalk the whole thing up to NIL & admissions.

So we have a new HC who has disappointed up to this point on the recruiting trail as a head coach, and the verdict is still out on whether or not he can develop talent. Overall the hire has been a massive disappointment given the outlook of the 2024 class (in my view)

A lot can change with a really good 2023 football team though so we'll just have to wait and see and prey/hope.

Nice landing Tae yesterday but Nelson just got a CB to Huskers. think he’s on his official in Lincoln

Tae is a bigger get than Nelson would be. For what’s it’s worth I’ve heard it’s Georgia vs ND for Nelson, even though Nebraska has more CB

In no way can you call it a “ massive” disappointment. Everyone knew going in there were challenges with MF, mostly due to his inexperience as a HC/ DC . He couldn’t point to a record of success or an extensive record of development. His sales pitch was limited to the 40 not 4. Given that, last years recruiting was very solid and uptick from bk. For a first year HC with a couple of bad L’s on the record I would say he did a real good job getting the class he did. Was Bowen/ Moore(s)/Keeley/Edward’s/ Paige disappointing? Hell ya but to be expected. This years class could be a lot better if we land kva, Scott, rushing, lambaert and maybe a surprise or two and there‘s no noise on current commits looking elsewhere. You can’t fairly judge the guy on 1 or even 2 years this is a 5 yr hire , minimum. I see 2023 as nd‘s year——5th yr/ sr all over the field and gun for hire at qb along with only 3 real games and no conference championship to deal with. We go 11-1 ( I think we are favored in every game accept OSU), with a playoff win then Freeman has a better story to tell. And there’s always the portal, whether credit goes to freeman or Reese’s nd did land the best qb and 1 of top 5 portal guys. That’ll happen again if needed. Definitely not a “ massive” disappointment or even a disappointment at this stage. Be fair give him some time

If KVA were to commit first, I think they might pass on Shaw. If Shaw commits first, I think they would absolutely find a spot for KVA. Personally, I hope they get both.
ND will take both and figure it out later

Agree.

After reading a few articles, it sounds like ship Nelson has sailed. Nebraska is now the heavy favorite
