I am not a big fan of the Shamrock series. I think it would be better for our players to play at South Bend then Fenway.
The corners of the endzones won't have much room for safety. I would be really pissed if Will Fuller or anyone hurts his knees or something making a catch in the corner.
Both teams are also going to be on the same side--not on opposite sides--- Won't seem like a real game.
Also, why not play in front of 80,000 plus in South Bend instead of the 46,000 or whatever at Fenway.
The students are what makes the ND home games special--and with the tuition their family pays they should be able to watch the home games.
Probably nasty weather too.

Playing BC is always tough for ND as it is their Super bowl and ND will be looking past them to Stanford--Believe me.

Just get the win stay healthy and get the hell out of Beantown. I think it is going to be like a 21 to 6 game like 2012.

I remember when Northwestern played at Wrigley Field several years ago. They ended up playing only one direction because the outfield wall was just a couple of feet from the endzone. It was weird. They recently signed up to do more games. I don't get it.

Play football in football stadiums. Keep players safe.

I am going sat night but would rather see a game at ND stadium. Fenway is antiquated and not even a comfortable place to watch a baseball game.. Not sure what to expect watching a football game.

The Shamrock series is all about showcasing ND. The Irish get a lot of publicity by playing in the different venues. ND promotes itself as a national team/university and the Shamrock series promotes that concept. While I agree that I would feel better with the Irish playing at home, never discount the value of the Marketing dollar.

Should have played the game at Gillette home of the 4 time and current Super Bowl Champs! Fenway has a lot of seats that are very low and the higher up seats can be obstructed views with the columns. A lot of the seats are in the endzone. The area is nice, several good restaurants and bars. Plenty of seats still available.

I can see playing the shamrock game in Arizona or Dallas or Atlanta or California but not Boston---Mass is one of the weakest recruiting areas.

I agree Bodi. The scheduling of this game in Boston, on the East Coast, a week before flying to Stanford and playing on the West Coast, is a tactical error. I think it increases the chances that ND won't play its best game against the Cardinal.

It doesn't matter what this board thinks. Recruits love the excitement, the chances to play in pro-ND areas around the country, the special uniforms, etc.

All of the big shot alumni that I know were scrambling to get tickets to this game, so it isn't just the recruits either!

What is more ProND than South Bend...

Love the series, and remember all the excitement among recruits when we played at Yankee stadium and the subway alum seemed to take over NY that day. The same with nearly every game thus far. Seems like a natural for the game before our annual bye.

I agree with ALL sentiments expressed....BUT if it is in a good recruiting area in warmer weather and a bigger stadium I think there can be positives. I'm thinking of San Antonio.......

BEAT bc in bahhhhston!!!!!!!!

This series is all about recruiting and marketing the ND brand . ND wants exposure in as many places as possible . Plus correct me if I am wrong BC is in the ACC and this helps satisfy the contract ND has with the ACC

There may not be many recruits in Boston, but most 14-17 year old boys know about Fenway Park and would love to play there during their 4 years of college ball. That helps recruiting.

I agree! Don't like the baseball stadium games, praying nobody gets hurt!!! Wish this could be a "home game" in South Bend.

I'd like to see them play in the old Boston Garden.

I'm a fan of the neutral site locations. As long as they make sense. Use them for recruiting and such.

Playing a crappy BC team in Boston, after having just played 2 games in PA, at 2 stadiums that sit double what Fenaway will. Is stupid.

Should have had BC as a home game. And played Wake at the Georgia Dome or something similar.
Best Shamrock games for me so far have been Miami at Chicago, ASU at Dallas, and Wazzu at the Alamodome. Those made the most sense.

I love the Shamrock Series, and some of the past ones have been phenomenal. Not the biggest of this one however. I'm still excited to watch the game however. Hopefully, the team isn't looking past these guys to Stanford.

ND probably doesn't want to associate with two time accused playoff cheaters.

I jest I jest.

I saw an article where Kelly said he would like to have a Shamrock Series game at a place like Lambeau Field. Wouldn't do much for recruiting or donations, but it would be cool to see ND play in the only NFL stadium named after a former Notre Dame player.

I agree with the Bodize's post, but I'm now glad it's at Fenway given the forecasts for both places on Saturday:

Boston: 47°, Sunny/Clear, 6-9mph wind
South Bend: 36°, 2-4 inches of snow, NW wind at 10
