Hudson Card

The rumors of Card's interest are coming from the Card side since ND cannot make statements so I'd say this has pretty big legs. If he can and ND can pull off the transfer credits, I'd be a somewhat surprised. However, UT is a solid school and Joseph did it from NU. It depends on his major and I don't have knowledge of that. For all I know he's a business major and it's a match made in heaven. I'd personally take Card over Leary at this point. Leary's injury status is risky. As far as upside and potential, Card has the most. He also has at least 2 years of eligibility.

He’s an excellent runner. Watch more tape. He was a dual threat in high school. Very good runner but he passes more bc he’s a better passer. He would be fun to watch at ND. I doubt his credits transfer so he’ll likely go to Mississippi or something. NDs stubborn ways may bite them again.

The voices in his head.
8-4 is Freeman's record right now, is it not? The previous 4 years were 12-1, 11-2, 10-2 and 11-2. You are what your record says you are. There is NO reason this roster coming back should not be at a bare MINIMUM 10-2 next season.

All that entails is beating teams ND is better than and winning 1 out 3, vs USC, Clemson and Ohio State. Keep in mind 2 of those games are home. And let's keep it even more 100, ND is 2-0 vs Clemson, when Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence are not the starting QB. So, unless Koublick turns into an NFL stud #1 pick, Clemson is not the Clemson of 2015 to 2020

Not at all, I’m merely looking for substantiation via verification !

When someone makes a claim of that nature they have an obligation to supprt their claim with concrete evidence.

Or do you think that outrageous claims should go unchallenged and accepted as true ?
I wasn’t referencing you, Pat. It was about Airzee.

Card finished his high school football career with 6,428 passing yards, 80 passing TDs, 1,391 rushing yards and 20 rushing TDs.

Buchner finished his high school football career with 4,980 passing yards, 59 TD's, 1,885 rushing yards and 32 rushing TD's.

Buchner ran more, but against weaker competition.

Buchner played 1 season in high school and still had 500 yards more

Buchner has 398 yards in 12 college games. Card has 194 in 21 games.

Correct. But he played against nobody. I agree, Buchner is a run first QB that is capable of passing. Card is a pass first QB that is capable of running.

Yes and the man who had those records is 9-3 with a stud QB.. about to be 9-4... if ND had Jayden Daniels they may well be undefeated!!!!!!!

The issue is that with multi years of eligibility this would put others at transfer risk, so the coaches will have to be sure they know what they are getting.

Rees got a lot of heat for botching the situation with Phil j... He could be setting himself up for another issue. He needs to be transparent with all involved through this process.

Yep. But this season showed more a risk not having anyone. I'd be upfront with Buchner and tell him he can compete, but he's too fragile and is a big risk. We cannot afford to put all our chips in his basket anymore. He's not a true pocket passer, has an awkward arm, has had a lot of accuracy and consistency issues, and he is a run first guy that gets hurt all the time. Card seems better than Buchner and if he's not, we have Pyne, Minchey, and Angeli to fall back on.

I think you are looking at this wrong. Buchner will compete for a spot. The idea he's fragile based on a contact injury to a non throwing shoulder while running is pretty weak.

Angeli is being frozen out if we get a transfer. And Pyne would likely be third string. I'd actually be surprised if Pyne and Angeli come back. Pyne can likely start at a smaller school and I believe will graduate with multiple years of eligibility left

Card is graduating next month, so he'll have his degree before he enrolls at his next college. That just pushed ND clearly into things.

Card is closer to pyne in type of player than buchner. Type of player, not how good they are.

Would love to see this
Only way I see it not happening is if ND does not reciprocate the interest or if another suitor offers $$ and guaranteed PT and he takes that over the ND grad degree (worth a lot of future $$) and big spot light. The staff will have to sell it as we think you’re our guy, you are smart, we are the perfect business school, so just come and prove us right.

best fit is Minchey. go to the portal for a sound backup; either Pyne orTB mostly are portal bound.

You do not bet on a true freshman that hasn't even gone through a single college practice. Minchey might be the most talented prospect we've had in a while, but that doesn't mean he shows up game ready.

Lol Rees isn't starting a true freshmen at QB. It took 5 games for him to let a wr fresh run a post route.

Hmmm. We aren't talking about any other teams... we are specifically talking about ND,LSU.. Bk and MF... I don't care about any other team .... again if Notre Dame had Jayden Daniels starting, ND would probably be undefeated

Despite the injury concerns, I would still rather have Leary. He throws a pretty ball and our receiver class will be pretty great next year if the ball is on the money. I want an accurate pocket passer. I do not want Buchner or Pyne. Card is not the most accurate QB out there and he gets rattled in the pocket. I think he could be decent, but I'm not sold .

They have a QB better than Duggan. Duggan was the backup. Starter got hurt.
Morris an OU transfer. Duggan far more experienced and Dykes had the brains to put him back in charge when Morris had a minor injury. Duggan and CW best QBs this year by far. Doubt Card would want to take on Morris.

He's been hurt too much in the past. He was hurt in HS. He missed the spring game because he hurt himself going down a flight of stairs. When it happens to one guy this much, it's something you need to consider.

I also do not like his throwing motion and he didn't look very accurate when he passes.

Listening to the IB guys today, they seem to have possibly gotten word that ND is probably not super highly interested in Leary. Card seems like the guy at the top of the list of guys interested in ND and I think the interest is mutual.

This is precisely why they will probably take Card and not Leary. Buchner is a major liability and the staff knows it. He can compete, sure, but Card will come in with more experience and to be honest, he’s a heluva talent and former high 4 star top 100 recruit. I think he comes in as the guy to beat.

Driskell and Ryan said today on their podcast that reports coming from UT during fall camp was that Card was hands down out performing Ewers in camp and the only reason Ewers got the job was politics and Sark building for the future as Ewers has that big upside. If Card was consistently out playing Ewers in practice as they say, there’s less than 0% chance that Tyler Buchner beats him.

Was not very impressed with Card in the games he did start. Stats seemed okay, but was not terribly impressed with his decision making.
