CBSSports.com put out three NBA mock drafts on Wednesday after the lottery, and all three have former Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant going in the first round. No signs of Pat Connaughton in the second. CBSSports.com has Grant ranked as the No. 17 prospect in the draft and Connaughton as the No. 58.
Vecenie:
19. Washington Wizards - Jerian Grant, PG, Notre Dame: Another high level athlete at point guard for the Wizards that can fill in behind both Bradley Beal and John Wall at each guard position. More than that though, the Wizards are looking for an upgrade at the backup point guard spot after Ramon Sessions had a rough season. Grant played well in a wide open offense at Notre Dame where he was able to showcase his ability to get into the lane and make plays. That profiles to fit well in the NBA where the increased space should help him a lot.
Harper:
18. Houston Rockets - Jerian Grant, PG, Notre Dame: Jerian Grant had a down year with his 3-point shooting, but putting a big, dynamic guard with a good outside shot next to James Harden is the ideal backcourt mate.
Parrish:
18. Houston Rockets - Jerian Grant, PG, Notre Dame: Grant will turn 23 before the 2015-16 season begins. So he's older than most prospects, which might hurt him with some franchises. Regardless, this dynamic playmaker is capable of adding athleticism to anybody's backcourt, including Houston's.
