The Notre Dame hockey team gave coach Jeff Jackson his 400th win as ND's head coach on Friday night and with very few anxious moments.

Landon Slaggert scored two goals, his 11th and 12th of the season, and Ryan Bischel made 28 saves as the Irish routed No. 13 Michigan, 6-1, in the first of the two-game series at Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind. The two teams meet again Saturday night at 6 EST.

Notre Dame stays near the top of the Big Ten standings (4-1-2) with 15 points, tied with Wisconsin and behind Michigan State. The Irish are 8-5-2 overall.

Michigan (7-7-3, 2-5-1) tied the game at 1-1 in the first period on a power-play conversion, but Justin Janicke untied it and the Irish stayed on a roll, outshooting the Wolverines, 38-28.
Patrick Moynihan, Tyler Carpenter and Danny Nelson also scored goals for Notre Dame.
