Senior Landon Slaggart's second goal of the night and fifth of the season gave Notre Dame a 4-3 overtime hockey win Thursday night at Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend. The Irish (3-3) rallied from a two-goal, third-period deficit on goals by Tyler Carpenter and Trevor Janicke.

Ryan Siedem and Justin Janicke assisted on Slaggert's game-winner. Ryan Bischel collected 24 saves for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame outshot Mercyhurst (0-2-2) by a 54-27 count. The 54 shots were the most in a game by the Irish since firing off 78 in a 4-3 loss to UMass in five overtimes on March 6, 2015. That Hockey East conference playoff game is the longest is college hockey history.

ND and Mercyhurst close the two-game series Friday night at 7:35 p.m.
