Final: Ohio State 4, Notre Dame 1.

The No. 13 Irish and No. 16 Buckeyes split the two-game series in Columbus.

Notre Dame couldn't solve Ohio State goaltender Jakub Dobes, who made 38 saves against an Irish attack with plenty of opportunities. The Irish outshot the Buckeyes 39-22.

Forward Quinn Preston played a hand in all of Ohio State's scoring with a hat trick of his own and an assist on a third period goal by Georgii Merkulov. Senior forward Cam Burke scored Notre Dame's only goal in the first period on an unassisted, shorthanded shot that tied the game at 1.

The Irish finished 0-4 with on power plays including two minutes of 5-on-3. Ohio State's first goal of the night came on a power play.

Notre Dame goalie Ryan Bischel, who saved 27 shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime victory, stopped 18 shots in Saturday's loss.

The Irish will be back on home ice Wednesday against Boston College at 7 p.m. EST on Peacock.
