Am I being sarcastic, yes a little but 9 wins isn’t bad. The part that gets me most is that the games against Miami & now Stanford we were thumped. I personally thought we’d go 7-5 but Kelly did a good job of getting new coaches & improving the team overall and let’s face it, if we had a QB that could throw with more accuracy this could have been a playoff season.

I haven’t been on the board for a while but I’ll say this again and again, this program isn’t going to win a NC again without a top 5 class. I am not saying it’s impossible to do it but extremely rare! 5 Star kids don’t come to ND anymore and it shows whether you want to admit it or not.

It’s now officially 30 years since our last national title and unfortunately I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Beating Stanford once would be a start!

Losing to Stanford leaves a very bitter and sour tase in my mouth though. Is there one Pro Bowler on that team? And they run out the same plays and “players” (6’6” wr and “we’re going to underthrow alley opp passes to him in the end zone”)every year. Zero creativity and yet ND plays down to them every year.

Not arguing with you there, would have been nice.

Your recruiting point is accurate. Unfortunately 5 star kids don't want to play for a stale program, an average football team or an administration and athletic department that has no commitment to winning. They want to be allowed to play football, work towards their NFL future and do as little classwork as possible to get by.

We don't play down to them. Their kids are just winners. They have a winning attitude and a toughness about them. ND's kids are losers. They are consumed with doubt and are mentally soft.

Stanford is ND's big brother. They're better at everything from academics to football lol.

Lol well of course.. I mean the NCAA is a pathetic joke! Look at what happened with the 5 kids that cheated on an exam a few years back that ended with 1 year suspensions & Irish wins being vacated. At the same time North Carolina had a fake class for 19 years to pass student athletes & got zero punishment! It gives programs no reason to follow rules anymore, they may as well all cheat.

But yet at one point ND was #3 in the CFB playoff rankings despite all of the obstacles that bedevil this program (academics, administration, etc.) All ND and Kelly had to do was figure out how to beat a beatable Miami team on the road and win out against Navy and an average, for them, Stanford team. Not mission impossible by any means. Yet, with a chance to prove the doubters wrong and possibly create momentum in recruiting that would get the 5 star players on campus and on the team, Kelly crapped the bed. Could not get it done. I know. I'm a broken record, but it was right there. It won't get easier next year. Time for a change.

Looked like they certainly were in no rush to extend any lead they had. Scores were followed up by a score for Stanford. And I refuse to believe Stanford has the talent ND has. I do believe that their kids dwarfs ours in passion. They care and our guys didn’t. Kelly was pissed.

ND is a reflection of the coach.....extremely soft around the middle.

I honestly don’t care what they do with Kelly but if you think some magical coach is going to come in and all the 5 Star recruits will follow, you’re high. It’s been 30 freaking years, time to get realistic!

He didn’t look soft to me tonight. Was totally in his guys asses all night long trying to implore them to give a shit. The oline should be ashamed of their play. Zero fvcks given by them all game long. The WR can’t get open even with Wimbush running around for 5 secs giving them time to break loose. Missed tackles by the defense. Bad choices... why bring that ball out of the end zone when you’ve knelt on it in the same situation all game long? And when you did bring it out, tackled at the 15.

9 wins is a good season relative to the low bar this program has set. This is only a reflection of our standard. For Ohio State, Alabama, or Clemson...9 wins would be a 'down' not an 'up'.

Too bad being pretty good is good enough.

Of course the bar has been lowered. Also you can’t put ND on the same level as those programs, especially Bama which is ridiculous. They have NFL talent all over and it’s like a down year for them.

If you think the Irish deserved to be ranked in the top 20, you need a reverse-rectal-cranial-inversion. Who have they beaten? NO ONE.

9 wins with a good chance at 10 is a good season just not a great one. A 20- 17 lead in the 4th quarter and than a circus of unforced errors. Sucked. On to the bowl game.
