I was certainly disappointed , but USC was certainly the better team ! as far as the season went, I think the coaches did an excellent job with the talent we have. Looking forward to a bowl win,and a greatly improved ND next season !

If we had played as well and had been coached as well as we did in the Clemson game we might very well have won.

But USC played better and was better coached and there you are.

as always, wishing you wellness and happiness RGC

Thank you my old friend. Wellness and happiness to you as well ! Hope the Good Lord gives us a few more great years to enjoy ND football !

100% agree. USC is on an upward trajectory. Their QB is on a different level and his play was the difference. ND's D doesn't have the athletes to deal with a QB like that. As I said in a different thread, sometimes... you just have to tip your hat to your opponent....

Hats off for taking 20+ transfers and needing OU's QB to finally beat ND? They literally borrowed their team. I don't take my hat off for anything related to USC football. Are they a better team? Yep. I'm not sure how you take your hat off to the way they did it. It's a choice to do what they did. They didn't exactly achieve anything besides doing whatever it takes to win. They are a shining example of what will ultimately be the demise of college football. It is what it is, but having respect for them is silly. I hate Michigan, but I hope they absolutely pummel USC in the playoffs.

You may not like it but they didn’t break any existing rules. We take transfers too when we need them. Do you not take your hat off for Rockne who was paying guys, several of whom didn’t attend the university ? Or Leahy who was poaching guys while in the service, most notably George Conner from holy cross? the game changes and you have to adapt to change. ND will adapt just like they’ve been forced to with other issues—-red shirting, EE’s, Jumbotron, uniform carousel, training tables, off campus housing, on line courses, film and tv major, 200 tutors , NIL cooperative etc etc. not sure why anyone is overly concerned we will adapt once again

I get it. I just don’t tip my hat to it. If we lost to a team like Ohio State or Michigan that was built and developed from the ground up, I’d tip my hat. If and when we play the same games of borrowing an entire team and they still beat us, then I’ll tip my hat. I also would not tip my hat to ATM unless we were dropping bags and buying classes. Until we do that, I don’t tip my hat. I lack respect for it. Doesn’t make it wrong. It’s just not impressive and I don’t have any respect for it. Riley didn’t have to struggle like Helton. He just brought kids in that other programs developed and sat back and watched. I don’t understand why he doesn’t just head to the league if that’s his schtick. Williams is his, so I’ll give him that. Riley has not won a title. I don’t think he can. He’s a tremendous QB recruiter and he’s great at finding the path of least resistance. His defenses are and have always been trash. Pyne should never have the stats he had against a respectable defense. USC looks a lot like Oklahoma from the past.

The rules of college football have changed.

USC is and will continue to capitalize on this.

NIL is the final coffin for any school not going the money route…as well as having hard degree paths.

Stanford will most likely not improve much. They won’t offer money and easy degrees.

ND faces this as well.

If things go semipro as I think, I might give up on college football. I don’t care for semipros with no real association to a school as student-athletes.

100% AGAIN

Hear N. Dame might be playing Texas in a Fla. bowl. Go Irish. UT not bad this year but not near the level of teams you beat like Clemson, N. Carolina etc. The Horns are better than Stanford. Run the ball well. QB has talent but very inconsistent. Not a CW.

i understand the frustration but we’re going to see more of it not less. The product has changed and there are only two choices , accept it or move onto something else. Personally I’ve been really struggling with officiating, reviews that are time consuming and still wrong, targeting calls that can be highly subjective, OL holding that’s called inconsistently , PI that is wildly inconsistent and of course what’s a catch and what isn’t. Lots of things to be disenchanted about with 2022 version of the sport

It is legal to line up your mercs each year and that is what USC did, like Marshall. ND will not take that route, they have a different misison which is part of our culture.

So its going to take MF 2-3 years to make his soup instead of using the microwave but we all know things that are best take just a bit of time.

That game was 2 TOs away from being ours and we just got the pots boiling. We will need to sprinkle in a player or two from a miss or injury, but its gonna taste oh so good.

The combination will be fatal !
Agreed. Estimates are 3000 will hit the portal. I gave up on baseball when free agency took off and this situation seems far worse. What’s the point in following recruiting if every guy you bring in may leave in a year? just call it what it is, pro ball with nothing to do with academia. Thanks again ncaa and the completely incompetent mark emert
