Has Prosise announced what he's doing?

e
Lack of carries for one. I say CJ goes pro. Look at Thomas Rawls on the Seahawks. He wasn't even drafted and is trending towards stardom.

Running backs automatically don't get drafted until Rd 2. He'd get drafted well before Rd 4 is over. CJ showed enough to make some quality $. He'd be stupid to stay.
Elliot a first rounder for certain.

You know stupid. I think he stays.

I hope he stays. imo He could use more reps, but if he stays he'll definitely be sharing time with Folston. That may at times move him to slot/WR.... I'd like to see both of them together in the backfield in short yardage. PS He saw no action in his FR year '12.

Factoid: he was Notre Dame Special Teams Player of the Year (2014)

Most mock drafts have him in the Top10 right now, at least that I've seen

But mock drafts are pretty worthless at this point

That said, I'd expect him to go in the 1st Round....similar to Gordon from last year
Agree. A bad combine may change that but I doubt it.

That's nasty and makes the case for multiple back sets.
Do you know how much STs Prosise played this year?
I'm guessing (and it's a flat out guess) slim to none. (injury risk)
That's definitely something that helps the resume' though.

Procise has a tough decision to make. I am not sure with the logjam at RB that he can really increase his stock. Midway through this year I think even a round 3 grade would have led to him leaving. Now however after an injury riddled last few games, I do not think he will be in the top 3 rounds of the draft and its likely he will return. I am not sure how much he can improve his draft ranking even if he comes back because he will not be featured, so he really has a decision to make regarding whether to stay in school or go for it. I truly believe a lot of our red zone failures this year would have been alleviated by a healthy Folston. Adams is so upright in his running and Procise is simply not a short yardage between the tackles runner.

Just to play the what if game... think of the season if Greg Bryant had stayed and he and Procise split... Could have been a very different year...

Whatever a potential 3 headed monster at RB! Would be nice to redshirt incoming backs as well as D Williams next year.

It is a tough decision for Procise. If I'm him, I'd basically want know if I'm going to be the starter and get the lions share of RB carries. If yes, then I'd stay, get more experience playing RB. If not, then take my degree, thank Kelly for everything and give it my shot in the NFL.

He only has 1 year's experience as a RB. Come back and work to be the top back.

Imo He should get a great insurance policy and stick around. With our RB depth he could continue to hone that and other skills. (special teams, slot and wide receiver, possibly returns....). Further developing those dimensions would make him a more desirable/attractive NFL prospect.

I agree.
. I can't post with my cell but terrible news about Pitt RB James conner diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. Apparently he got the news on Thanksgiving morning.

They are so much better at treating this disease today. He needs to get to Memorial Sloan Kettering pronto.....
"Today, most people with Hodgkin lymphoma (Hodgkin's disease) can be cured. We'll personalize a treatment plan for ...."

I am not sure what stage or other details, but there appears to be hope. The good news is he is strong as an ox heading into this battle.

JS and CJP should both opt for the NFL draft. Smith is a no brainer and CJ will not move up with another year; he just risks injury.

Prosise should definitely come back, he doesn't have much good film at either RB or WR, and needs more touches to improve his film and technique at both positions

He should come back

He may not end up leading the team in carries (I think Folston will, if 100%) but he'll get at least 10-12 carries a game and he should spend a good amount of time in the slot

Prosise doubling as a slot would allow ND to get 2 of it's extremely talented RBs on the field at the same time, make full use fo Prosise's unique skill set and previous experience, and help Prosise develop very valuable film/skills for the NFL

I think the ideal "Base Set" for our offense would be:

QB - Zaire (I really like Kizer here too, but think Zaire could edge him out)
RB - Folston
APB - Prosise
WR - Fuller
WR - Hunter
TE - Jones/Smythe
LT - Bars
LG - Nelson
C - Mustipher
RG - Elmer
RT - McGlinchey

You could create a TON of problems for opponents in the run game with that lineup (both on the edge and between the tackles), do an effective job stretching the defense deep, and be able to attack the middle of the field........all with various players

Plus, with that lineup you'd only have 1 player that hasn't started multiple games already

This. I love CJ, but his sample size at RB is just not enough to leave early on. But, it's his decision.
The thing about CJ though is he'll probably test great at the combine and far too many teams put to much emphasis on the combine.

Curious, do you think Zaire will get the nod over Kizer or you just hoping. Either way we should be DEEP at every position next year.

I think Malik Zaire ends up winning the job back, I've liked what I saw from him just a little more than what I saw from Kizer.

That being said, I could 100% understand/envision Kizer holding the starting spot

I expect both Zaire and Kizer to enter spring bowl "even" in an "open QB competition"....and the starter not to be announced until late in Fall Camp

Cj should NOT go pro. And the reason is simple. He's not ready. Not even close.

If he goes now I'm sure he'll be drafted. Probably in the 4th round range. Great. That means nothing. Question is he can get that second contract. The way he runs now, no way in hell. Runs to high. Too hesitant. Misses cutbacks. He really has problems between the tackles. He relies on his speed, speed that will be negated in the nfl. And let's not forget he ran behind dominating o line against below average ds.

The nfl does not develop you. If you don't come into the nfl with certain skills it is unlikely you will be given the time to develop those.

So he may get drafted but that should not be what he's focusing on. His question should be do I have the skills to go to the nfl and get that second contract in year 2 and really have a career.

Part of why I prefer Zaire as the QB (and think he'll end up winning the job back) are that the offense has been more effective with Zaire at QB:

In Zaire's 3 Starts (LSU, Texas, Virginia):
  • Average Points per Game - 35 Points
  • Average Yards per Game - 480 Yards
  • Average Yards per Play - 6.65 Yards
  • Average Turnover per Game - 0 Turnovers
  • 3rd Down Conversion Rate - 46%
  • Red Zone TD Rate - 54%
  • Average Rush Yards per Game - 245 Yards
  • Average Yards per Rush - 5.35 Yards
  • Average Pass Yards per Game - 235 Yards
  • Average Yards per Pass - 8.95 Yards
I Kizer's 10 Starts (Georgia Tech, UMass, Clemson, Navy, USC, Temple, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Boston College, Stanford):
  • Average Points per Game - 34.5 Points
  • Average Yards per Game - 470 Yards
  • Average Yards per Play - 7.15 Yards
  • Average Turnover per Game - 1.8 Turnovers
  • 3rd Down Conversion Rate - 45%
  • Red Zone TD Rate - 57%
  • Average Rush Yards per Game - 210 Yards
  • Average Yards per Rush - 5.85 Yards
  • Average Pass Yards per Game - 255 Yards
  • Average Yards per Pass - 8.75
To me, those stats say that the offense with Zaire was a little more impressive than the offense with Kizer....but that's obviously up for discussion

Additionally, if we take out the statistical outlier game (Umass).......the only stats that the Kizer offense would lead in are "Pass Yards per Game" and "Yards per Play" (which are obviously related)

The good news is that it should be a phenomal competition between those two, and hopefully both stay, so that we're both elite at deep at QB

TOM right on again.

maybe 15 yrs ago he is a number 1 or 2; the emphasis on passing has made pure RB almost a dinosaur
!

certainly a talent like stanley will be missed. you don't just "replace" that kind of skill set as it's very rare. i don't see martin as a loss at all. nowhere near the player his brother was. good leader for sure but an average player. i think the young guys behind him this year have better physical skills. harry will have whoever steps in ready. elmer is the one that frustrates me. so inconsistent but i thought he was cleaner late in the year. three plays in a row he looks like former cowboy great larry allen and then the next couple he looks like larry fine.
Right, a 2nd round draft pick at center "isn't a loss." Not to mention he was a captain.

Lol no idea where some of you get this stuff.

Be advised, he has been advised to avoid the low life leeches that athletes attract.
Actually, it would be a privilege for him to make this circle. It got wider recently with a number of Broncos showing up.
