Golson, no invite

Re...Tim Terriffic

Argusman is an internet worm hiding behind the anonymity of the net that posts under many different names and actually talks with himself (aka argusman, holy smoke, epiticus, big fella fan, tim terrific and a host of others) all due to his lack of self esteem. This childish charade is foisted upon the message board by an adult man of retirement age living in South Florida. He also has an estranged daughter that attended FSU.......go figure . He is a drop out of Maryville Teachers College (aka NW Missouri State) and pretends to be affiliated with Notre Dame but never attended the school :(. He hopes to curry favor from Notre Dame alumni through pretense and accolades for the schoolo_O. He claims to have been honored ("hopnored") at a ND football game but when questioned can not come up with the date, the opponent or anything else:eek:. He is the pariah of Rivals, hated by all, estranged by family and has no credibility with any Rivals posters.

^^^^^^ Some of you guys really must not have watched last season!
According to my wife I watched WAY too much college FB last season. In fact, 12 hours worth every Sat, including some Thursday and Friday games. All ND games and many ACC games including most Clemson, Miami and FSU games.

What does any of that have to do with Golson quiting on two teams he played for? He could have chosen to stay at either place (after being given the opportunity to excel at his craft and help his teammates) but chose instead to quit and walk away. Twice! Color it any way you want. He still quit and let both team's players, coaches and fans down.

I think it would be interesting how Golson would fit into Chip Kellys offense.
He wouldn't. Trust me that would be turnover golson part II, or III,....
Chip Kelly puts his qb in a lot of high demand situations....Golson is ball possession challenged as is, he doesn't need even more pressure especially at that level.

Teddy IMO this goes deeper than just the transfer. This starts with these kids rushing or being pushed to enroll early. It has become a me first society with me coming first and the college tradition..experience...character building tradition, etc etc...all taking a very distant back seat if even in the same god damn car. IMO it begins right there. People are looking for that Sunday ticket and everything unfortunately revolves around that.

Sure there are still the players wishing to soak in all 4 years even knowing they will be a high pick but those players are now a rarity.

The pay day has gotten so outrageous it's hard to blame them though.

I don't view early enrollment a selfish act; it very well may help the team getting more players up to speed to help with depth. Do we know whether coaches particularly encourage early enrollment?

The spirit of early enrollment had nothing to do with athletics. Unfortunately it's now used for that. It was in place for people who needed to enroll early for one reason or another..studies, grades, acclamation..whatever. The majority is using it now to get a jump on the depth chart and nothing more. If athletics were not permitted by early enrollments of anyone then nobody would feel the need to get that jump on people since nobody is doing it.

This stuff goes on in a way all the way down to the high school level. Lifting religiously from Jan 1 to start of official practice date....of course these are to be optional but you better believe they know the attendance of these so called optional workouts.

Why the rush? These are still kids and they do need some solo time to still be a kid.

Some neighborhoods it does give kids a positive outlet for their time opposed to let's say bad stuff...gang stuff...whatever. but again these early year round training regimens are being driven home by every high school program. And most are not to keep kids occupied out if trouble but to get that jump on the competition. Yes..even in high school. Where 98 percent of players will not take another snap after high school yet the need to train train train is being driven home around the clock.

Been around just not as much and haven't posted much. I became a father 20 months ago and he has finally taken an interest in his dad. So I've been spending more time away from the boards and the Internet all together playing with him. It's been great.

Congratulations!

agreed. the changes even since my time (mid 80s) have been drastic. most of us had summer jobs during my time at MSU. football is 24/7 now all year long and i don't think thats a good thing. in high schools now you rarely see kids in more than one sport. we always participated in at least two mostly three. coaches are trying to persuade kids to focus on just one. i think it's a mistake.

Hey 22..........

Enjoy the good times ahead with your son (raised twin sons, challenging but great...the best). You can have great fun getting him involved in all the youth activities especially if you/he is athletically inclined. Just remember to maintain a balance and for every hour you spend with him involved in sports activities spend an equal amount of time helping him with his studies and learning good study habits. The years will fly by.........enjoy.

Thanks for the tips, Duo. God knows I can use them.

Having a blast so far. Truly amazing.

OK 22.........here's a tip on toilet training. Used it for my twins and it worked like a charm.
  • Get a plastic child's potty toilet seat.........the kind that fits right over your toilet. Bring it home wrapped and help him unwrap it. It's a BIG deal!
  • Get a bunch of decorative stickers from the toy story (think they come in sheets) with pictures of little ducks and super heroes and things.
  • Get a bag of regular M&M's (not the ones with peanuts).
  • Take him into the bathroom, take the potty seat out of the box, put it on the toilet (by now he should have seen you sitting on the toilet).
  • You may want to get him something to stand on when he pees (#1).
Here's the deal........explain to him that every time he pees in the toilet (#1) he gets a sticker to decorate his toilet with. And, (drum roll) every time he goes poo poo (#2) in the potty he gets an M&M (only one, and he never gets them otherwise, only when he performs). And of course, you have to show him how to use the toilet paper to clean himself. Within a few days he will have stickers all over his personal potty and he will love to perform. And naturally, heap plenty of praise on him when he performs. Oh yeah, you can never start too early!

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

I have said it before he reminds me of two CFL RB's that I know personally from a size perspective in Khari Jones who threw for almost 5,400 yards and 46 TD's (second only to Doug Flutie with 47 and 48) and Kevin Glenn. Both made decent livings, are good people and Khari is the current offensive co-ordinator with the BC Lions. I think he would be a great college coach and dynamic recruiter due to his personality and experience and maybe in another life he would leave Canada and come back to the USA. Kevin Glenn is still playing at age 36 and while not NFL money while playing they make $200,000 to $500,000 as QB's in the CFL which is not lifelong money but enough if you are smart about it and use your networking opportunities.

Are you talking about Golson? If yes, are you being sarcastic?

Scotchirish.. EG never led the nation in turnovers . Look it up . Two many of his TO were not of his making at least 6 of the ints went through receivers hands . You guys forget all of the great plays in his ND career . And the second half of 2014 we had no D and we had to try and out score opponents . Yes trying to make a play resulted in 4/5 fumbles but a few were strip sacks which happen to all QB went throwing the ball. Just facts my friend. Oh by the way .....didn't see BK in Kizers face all season . And check his TD to INT ratio .
