Giving Women's Basketball Some Love

Stanford lead down to 3 with a little less than 2 minutes left.

It's all over for the Lady Irish.:( 90-84 Stanford.
Who would have thought the Irish Men's team would end up farther along than the Ladies.
#1 seed South Carolina also lost to Syracuse tonight.

Thats all for this year.

Ladies made a run in the 4th quarter ... but it was a bit late and not enough.

This Year's team gave it their all . As everybody has posted, this was not Muffet 's most talented team but they played hard . Women were a little short on height . We had guards playing taller forwards

I think ND was the only team other than maybe South Carolina who could beat UConn in the tourney. Looking more and more like fo fo fo.

At 6'2, Boley will help on the glass as well. She's a stretch 4 type with some athleticism and she's about the same size as Westbeld... Taya Reimer not working out at ND really hurt. She was the #4 overall players in her class and at 6'4, she was the center ND needed. Turner is really an athletic 4 who can block shots and defend a lot of centers. ND really needs to land 2 6'4 centers that can run. It seems that we're in agreement there.
Reimer was never a center did not play with her back to the basket ! At best she could shoot the mid range jumper allowing Turner to be free from double and triple teams?

But Reimer definitely would have helped with foul line jump shot and this would have helped Turner with high low pass . Reimer also would have helped with the rebounding since she had a face up jumper around the paint . Reimer did spell Turner in the paint at times

A #4 seed and a #7 seed making the final four is a great sign that women's basketball is getting more and more parity. There have been years where all four #1s made the final four and we not even tested that much getting there.

Parity, except for those pesky Huskies![smile]

I would say over the last decade there have been a bunch of teams fighting for the title of second best program. ND, South Carolina, Stanford...
