Welcome to Clemson - for those of you who may be traveling to God's Country, welcome! I get a bit tickled at all the bull shit on these boards about who is going to beat who, and who has the most 5-stars,and who's s_it doesn't stink. The fun is in the game and I, like most of you, can't wait. For those of you who are making the trip, come early and enjoy tailgating with us. You will find the Clemson fans hospitable and welcoming. They will offer you good food and cold beer. Our tailgate is at the foot of the stairs leading up (or down) from the Fraternity Quad, about 300 yds. from the Stadium. All of you are welcome . .. please come by. We'll have food, beer, and probably some good old southern Beach Music. By the way, the last two times we played, both at Clemson in 77 and ND in 79 or 80 (??) I was there (getting a little older and can't quite remember the exact year we played at ND - great trip). Don't let the internet warriors (ass holes) taint your experience, Come join us on Saturday. We'll ALL have a great time. By the way, don't miss the ESSO Club. An institution. Good luck Domer's.

Game at ND was in 1979. I was there. Thanks for the overview, spider. I am looking forward to taking in the atmosphere at Clemson.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^This is what college football is all about. Classy post.

I could not remember. the exact year of the game at ND. We made the drive from Atlanta. I know Dan Devine was the coach in 77 when ND came to Clemson and Montana was the QB. Who was the coach in 79? Was it still Devine? Sorry - again, age seems to get in the way of remembering the facts (lol). Lord help us that the facts might temper some of the folks that get on these forums!

What a class message. Appreciate the offer. Should be a great day. Wish that I could be there!!

Sounds like you are about my age. Devine was still ND's coach in 1979. As for the Esso Club, are fans from visiting teams welcomed (or at least tolerated)?

Absolutely. Part of the charm of the ESSO Club is that "everyone" is welcome. There is always a number of visiting fans at the ESSO. There is usually a band and I understand they are introducing a new ESSO beer for Saturday's game brewed locally in Greenville but branded as ESSO beer. Probably will take "several" for me to decide if I like it or not!

They probably are. If you are looking at their post #s those don't translate to other boards. If you posted on Clemson's board it would start with post 1

Yes, you will be welcomed at Esso. A lot of people will want to talk football with you if you have a beer there. Also, if you just walk around through the tailgates, you will probably be offered food and cold beer multiple times. Clemson fans are very passionate but we pride ourselves on making the visiting fans have an amazing gameday experience.

He is spot on. We love our Tigers but we respect and welcome the opponent's fans. Arrive early and visit Bowman field, the Esso Club and Tiger Town Tavern. Tiger Band marches into the stadium approximately 45 minutes before kickoff. Be in your seat by 8pm. "Running down the Hill" is unique to Clemson. Good luck to ND. Enjoy your time in Clemson.

The OP is not lying. I've been to Clemson as an "away" fan before. I was blown away by the way they treat opposing fans. Like nothing I've ever seen.
