Absolutely, and I expect Florida to continue to produce talent for ND. Alford laid the groundwork in Florida and it's imperative that the staff continues down that path .
Florida recruiting is good now for a number of reasons:
Big population.
HS football is super big throughout the entire state.
Players work out and play year round due to the nice weather.
But, most importantly:
Miami is down following sanctions and prior to that the threat of sanctions. Highly paid coach Al Golden who came from Temple and continues to keep a personal friend as his defensive coach much to the consternation of Miami fans may not be the answer to bring the Hurricanes back to former glory. Without more wins it's difficult for Miami to recruit the caliber of players as it once did in the past.
The University of Florida has been a dumpster fire for several years now. Their team is seriously lacking in talent especially on the O-line and there are big questions about new head coach Jim McElwain from Colorado State.
While 2 of the Big 3 in the State of Florida have been way down Florida State has been the beneficiary of the other two's woes. Five top 5 recruiting classes in a row and they have been able to pick up a lot of talent in the South Florida hotbed of recruiting. Meanwhile, other colleges have descended on South Florida as well and have reaped the rewards. Just as one example, I think the majority of Louisville's roster are from the State of Florida. Right now the pickings are good. If and when Miami and UF ever recover the recruiting picture for the State will change significantly.
