Flag Plantings

Not being a fan of it is one thing. People arguing to have it “banned” is another.
You would think the coaches and administration would use common sense and put a stop to flag planting.

Read earlier in this thread or another that basically flag planting is part of the rivalries...like since when? Flag planting over the years isn't consistently a part of college football games.

Here's a funny....long time posters that know me are familiar with me posting about my bucknut loving Ohio cousins. They are oddly quiet on social media since Saturday afternoon. Should I be worried? 😉

A lot of fans also don’t like when players dance in the end zone or after making a big play. Should we make that illegal?

I simply don’t think flag “planting” is that big of a deal. How often has flag planting lead to mace being used by police? Maybe once now?

Not liking something and banning it all together are two different things in my opinion.

You also can hardly “plant” a flag in todays football with so many fields being made of turf.

Yeah, trying to plant a flag on field turf is hilarious.
I just don't think a celebration of a TD is a good comparison. That celebration can be flagged if taken too far. I doubt if teams are going to brawl over it.
Fans are going to have differing opinions on flag planting and that's fine.

Personally, I'd like to see them plant a shrub or two.

The whole Catholics vs Convicts rivalry started because Miami ran it up. Let's not do the back in our day bs. The reason stuff like this had to be stopped was because it led to brawls and ugly scenes.
Oh really "it" had to be stopped? What excatly had to be stopped? Putting in your backups and actually running your offense? FYI Nothing has stopped, because in case you do not actually watch ND games.

ND just did the EXACT SAME THING to FSU 3 weeks ago. I hate Miami, but in 1985 ND was a bad team with a lame duck coach, who basically laid down, Just like a bad 2-10 FSU team basically laid down at ND 3 weeks ago, In fact, the margin of victories were almost identical 58-7 and 52-3.

ND fans had no problem, nor should they with Marcus Freeman putting in the backups and running the offense. But, when Miami did it to ND it was the end of the world. When Todd Blacklege said on TV ND was running up the score, ND fans got pissed at Blacklege, But when Ara Parseghian said on the TV Miami was running up the score, ND fans got pissed at Miami,

That 1985 game had nothing to do with 1988 Catholics vs Convicts, In fact, the next time ND played Miami after 58-7, was not the 1988 game, it was the last regular season game of the 1987 season, in the Orange Bowl, ND got beat 24-0 that day, but nothing happened fight wise. What happened in 1988. was after 3 recruiting classes Lou Holtz had built a team that could compete and beat Miami. And Miami decided to run right through ND's warm up line and ND fought them, Just like ND had a pregame brawl with USC in the 1989 season, Same thing, This whining about running up the score is ridiculous, Flag planting is stupid, but we need another rule, like we need a hole in the head. Just tell the Head Coaches & AD's to tell their programs it stops.
