This ND team without MZ and without a good defense will need to battle every week. Every team left on the schedule can be better than us that day.

so cal, temple, pitt, BC, stanford.......no gimmes there.

GT is not that good....umass is not winning the MAC....uva sux.

JUST WIN IRISH.......but show up first!!!

I am disappointed---as many fans are---that the 2015 team has NOT shown the LEADERSHIP that was expected. Only texas was a complete game. Every other game has had very poor execution/effort at times. IMO the mark of a GOOD team is getting better as the season progresses and always playing with great effort. It is time to start......

But you need to take BC off that list. They might be the worst P5 team in the nation. They were shut out at home by Wake Forest. If Kelly lost to them he should be forced to walk back home.

5-1 with a close loss on the road to a top ten team in adverse conditions. why does nd have to dominate a game from the first snap ? what team does that ? how about a little credit for the opponents. like lou always said "the other guy gives scholarships too". there is a segment here that will never be satisfied . wins are the ONLY thing that matters to me. maybe because I watch games as a coach first and a fan second. I've always said in the eyes of their fan base nd never gets beat, they only lose.

the board collective IQ, being a few points lower each season, seems to have forgotten the recent past BC battles! I am sure this game has been circled on their calendar for a long time! AND you can say the same for Pitt.
Next week arch rival USC; beat USC 1st.

you're correct. I know it's cliché but it's true. one of the hardest things for a college coach to do is getting 18-22 years to not look ahead.

OMG! I can't believe what I'm reading from some ND fans this morning. We aren't 1-5!
if nd scored every time they touched the ball and the defense didn't give up one single positive yard there would be some sort of complaint here. I for one didn't care for the white shoes yesterday.

With USC having a disappointing result so far will ND be looking ahead to undefeated Temple?

Ara, it really is not about the record. It is the bitter disappointment that we have no shot at the playoffs. I really thought this was the year. The Clemson loss was a killer and because of the schedule and no conference championship, we have no chance for a statement win. I thought the team would come out with more pissed off emotion that the season is basically over except for how high they can get ranked. Seems like every week we struggle with every opponent. If this is the best Kelly team, what happens in the future with so many impact players set to leave and an average to poor recruiting class coming in next season?

no chance ? you're a fool. if nd wins out they are right in the thick of it. a lot of the teams currently ahead of them play each other. natural attrition will occur. better to lose to Clemson than Stanford if you're going to have one loss. if ohio state loses in November last year they don't make it in.

struggle ? you think navy was a struggle ? it was a competitive game for a while but hardly a struggle. same with ga tech. the only game they've won I'd call a struggle was Virginia.

You have got to be kidding. If Navy did not turn the ball over 3 times, we probably would have lost. Once Navy got behind, they had to throw the ball. If all of you want to blame the loss to Clemson on Turnovers, then you have to blame the Navy loss on turnovers. If they did not fumble the 2nd half kickoff and missed a FG, ND would have been down by 6 points going into the 4th quarter.

And if ND did not turn the ball over four times in the second half against Clemson, ND would be undefeated and ranked about 4th right now.

That works both ways; it's football.

it doesn't work that way. how do you know for certain that even if navy doesn't fumble the kickoff nd doesn't get a 3 and out, get the ball and score. you can only deal with what happened not what might of happened. what world do you reside in ? yes the 4 turnovers against Clemson were the biggest contributor to why nd lost that game. it cost nd possessions and gave Clemson short fields to operate on. if you knew ANYTHING about football that would be pretty evident.

So if I understand you correctly, ND lost to Clemson because they turned the ball over 4 times but Navy did not lose to ND because they turned the ball over 3 times. LOL. That makes no sense. The reason Navy fumbling the kickoff cost them dearly was because they ran all over ND in the first half. ND could not stop them. They more than likely would have marched down the field and scored while chewing up the clock.. Also, this discussion is about your claim that ND did not struggle with Navy when it is quite apparent that they did.

yes they ran all over them and yet were still trailing at halftime. you call it a struggle I call it competitive. its semantics. I said nds turnovers were the biggest contributor in the loss to Clemson along with other factors. navy turnovers were a factor. I think their biggest issue is playing from behind. they just can't play catch up in that offense.

So we agree, semantics or not. It was a struggle and Navy's offense is not built to come from behind so without the turnovers, they might have been ahead. A struggle.

no not a struggle in my eyes. at no point in that game did I feel like nd was in danger of losing. navy was competitive as they usually are against nd.

Come on Echo, you are just being stubborn now. It was a struggle. Just admit it and we can move on. Every sportscaster, sportswriter, and football analyst says it was a struggle and we did not do ourselves any favors. If the game was still in doubt in the 3rd quarter and could have swung a different way except for the turnovers and missed FG's, by definition that is a struggle.

you say tomato I say tamato. again I never felt like they were going to lose. you feel differently. Virginia was a struggle.
