ESPN treated the Trump tweets like the Kennedy assasination.

Is anyone questioning their right to protest?

Yes, many are confusing this right to protest as a slam against the anthem and the flag. As stated early and often it is not. All Americans have the findememtal role get to protest and many just don't like the message these men are trying to highlight.

You aren't very bright

It's not the speech..

It's the demonstration on the stage.

And it does really go back to the moronic thinking here.

These idiots want to protest a song representing this country. The very country that they enjoy making insane sums of money to play a GAME.

How about this....if you want to use that platform to protest then how about playing for free. I'll trade that. You kneel when you'd like but play for free.

Deal?

What you fail to note is that standing is also a demonstration. In America, we don't dictate how someone should demonstrate.

The message has been lost in the furor over perceived disrespect of the country, the anthem and the flag, and whether that was the intention or not the intention is really almost irrelevant. It is clearly the appearance. The strategy which they chose to express this discontent has backfired. They got people's attention, but not for the reasons or the effect they wanted.

Standing for the anthem is a demonstration of respect for the country, those who founded it, and those who have fought and/or died to protect it. I guess it could be somewhat different for different people, but I think most would fall under that categorization.

Which begs the obvious question, what is not standing a demonstration of?

As stated by the kneeling players, a demonstration that the police in this country are not adequately supervised and that the situation must be corrected.

Kneeling is NOT the opposite of what standing represents. And standing is not the opposite of what kneeling represents. I imagine you don't want standing to be said to represent support of police brutality so stop claiming kneeling represents a dishonoring of America and her troops.

I respect your opinion Ivan, but I think you are believing their BS. And your explanation totally explains why this chosen form of protest has been a total failure for the players.

It is getting people to talk about the situation. That is the first step.
