Elko will blitz n stuff box in his first game

I would say A&M has about three times the talent Duke has. It gives me ulcers ND does not deploy a short slant pass across the middle instead of receivers running 20 yards down field by than the ND QB is flat on his back or running for his life.

Quick middle routes or slants would stop them from boxing up the line for some plays. Depends on if all the lineman at T A&M stay. They have 2 different times that they could go portal. That's why it might be in ND's interest not to use all schollies up by Dec. Unless ND has a few leave in spring too.

It should be a great setting in Kyle Field with 100K + Aggies showing their excitement about a new season and new expectations.

A&M will have their starting QB back from injury. A&M will probably be helped and hurt by the portal - just like everybody else.

They aren't. But he's a very good coach. A huge upgrade. Best coach that moved by far
No doubt he is a good coach, but the upgraded SEC as well as the big are loaded with land mines every week. A&M has big boster money behind it. Elko will not be able to recruit three stars, but will have to fight with Bama and Georgia and the rest of football world to land 5 stars or highly rated 4 stars to survive other programs are already established. He had it made at Duke.
The SEC championship game usually determines who goes the bowl championship. I can see a two loss team making it to the bowl championship since there are less conferences, but the standard and the bar has been raised in the Big as well as the SEC. There will be no weekends off. I like what the ACC has done with the best percentage of wins plays in the conference playoff instead of divisional leader. The big and SEC have gotten away with playing cupcakes as tune up games, but those days are gone. Does this increase viewership, of course it does. Does it diminish a team’s chances to win a championship, oh course it does, but in the day of college coaches making as much as NFL coaches, well you will get no sympathy from me.
Oh, but the way, it looks like CBS is cutting ties with the SEC. Greed has taken over America.

He recruited very well at Notre Dame and at Texas A&M. He was there for 4 years so he knows how to recruit there. I don't think that part will be the issue

Elko will have 10 in the box, Parker will call jumbo package and run it right into the 10 man front for no gain or a loss. We've seen this before. lol
This is the game plan against every team ND plays. Most OC’s would check out of it knowing they are playing zero coverage and look for a mismatch like a back or TE against a linebacker with the exception of the kid from NC State. I mean that is a schematic advantage. How many times is the play Audric right or left with a stacked box. Some people get down on a short slant over the middle or the bubble screen, but that is a part of the NFL as well as college.

and some of the dummies will blame the OL and say they stink. I don't care how good the OL is. You can line up the greatest linemen ever in their prime and put them up against a 10-man front, and they'll be hard pressed to open up a running lane.

LOL, Jimbo Fisher - already a national championship-winning head coach - was considered a slam dunk hire, and on top of that he amassed some recruiting classes that were the envy of all of college football.

But he still couldn’t get over the hump at A&M, even with Elko as his defensive coordinator. So I’d pump the brakes on declaring Elko an “upgrade”. Time will tell.

True. Mike Elko is not an "...upgrade..." over Jimbo Fisher. Jimbo simply found out that winning consistently in the SEC is extremely difficult, and adding Texas and Oklahoma.... it just got tougher.

In Gerad's defense, he certainly had an answer in the 4Q the last time he faced Elko.
Huh? ND was getting whipped that drive. Only one play Parker called went as planned, the rest was hartman improvising and estime breaking a long one.

Only drive that was descent that game was NDs first drive, and even that needed a fake punt.

Hey dude, Notre Dame won at Duke on a game winning drive late in the 4Q.

Spin that any way you wish.

Jayden Daniels won a Heisman improvising much of the year, just like Sam Hartman did at Duke.

So what.

He packed it in while ago, even while he was at the end of FSU. He left them a mess

Lol. It wasnt so tough for Ole Miss and Missouri this year with much less talent. Jumbo got that big contract and hes been chilling. This version of Jumbo is not the prime Jimbo of FSU

Playing in the SEC West ain't the ACC.

Ole Miss didn't seem to mind with less talent
When Ole Miss wins a title or even makes a CFB playoff, let me know.

In the 10 year history of the 4-team CFB Playoff, Ole Miss has zero appearances.

Again. Zero.

Life in the SEC is really difficult.

🤣🤣

Now you are basing it on NC.

It's tough to win the NC anywhere. The SEC wasn't that great this year

So life in the SEC is so difficult that they have teams that will never win a title or make it the CFP in it? Got it.

The ability to attack all 3 levels of the defense keeps teams from doing that crap. That is why I hope ND gets back to the RPO game, that was so effective when Chip Long and Ian Book were teamed up together in 2018 and 2019. 23-3 record over 2 seasons.

3 level RPO's with a guy like Riley Leonard, who is a serious "R" threat can and will clean up those heavy boxes. Then the Inside Zone, Duo and Pin & Pull schemes have room to operate. And so does that talented stable of running backs.
