Elite 2025 TE Nate Roberts is Irish

If Cam blows up his senior year he will get a lot of last minute bag offers. He will stick with ND bc of the relationships he has.

That's because the vast majority of commitments to ND in recent times are rather ordinary prospects. Minus an exception here or there, the prospects with a lot of demand/pursuers don't even look at ND these days, and have been a real struggle to get/hang on to which is reflected in the results on the field (ordinary).
a so called fan. Really disgusting piece of work you are.

I am in the middle. I do think we can say we are losing some kids to NIL. That’s a no brainer. I do believe pre NIL Freeman gets some of these kids like Scott and Dante.

Same rate, we are still keeping some kids with big $ offers. Depends on the kid and thinking Roberts is a Dante type kid just bc he’s a likely 5 star is just far far off. They couldn’t be more different with more different families. Again, we are talking about a Catholic small town kid that has visited every major campus with a family of college athletes. There’s very unlikely a leach dad or uncle seeking a new car, gold chain, and a free monthly pair of Air Jordan’s.

Blows up? He already blew up. He was/is a 5 star.

Carr and Williams are tier 1 elite players. The money is already out there for them

They are tier 1 prospects no doubt. The issue is that we have 2 of them, our competitors have 5-10 of them. The other issue is that ND has a really poor track record securing commitments from tier 1 prospects in recent times, especially in this NIL era. We can't count our chickens before they hatch.

3 schools will get 5 to 10 tier 1 prospects

Georgia, Bama, OSU

Thats it.

We're never going to recruit at their level or at least not consistently.

We need to recruit very very good classes (which we are doing) and land the elite qb (Carr) and surround him with talent.

Follow that model and win a playoff game or somehow win a title then the recruiting floodgates can open more.

Theres a few more tier 1 type guys on the board we need to land

Right now it's Georgia, Bama, OSU, TA&M
5+ years ago it was Bama, OSU, LSU, Clemson, Florida
10 years ago it was USC, Florida State, Texas, Bama, etc.
15 years ago it was OU, Texas, USC, Florida

Point being, it's a revolving door of elite programs over a long period of time that has dominated/monopolized the talent pool.

Bottom line there are 10-15 programs now on aggregate that ND has been behind on in recruiting for much of the last 15 years.

And there's only 1 example of a team winning first with mediocre talent and then getting tier 1 recruits instead of the other way around. And that program (Clemson) had other unique selling propositions at the time (loaded coaching staff making millions in salary across the board -- they were way out in front on this -- it wasn't just an elite QB that changed their fortune). That ship has sailed and is a very low probability model to cling to.

I really wish that MF had a couple of seasons as HC at ND to recruit, before nil . I really believe those classes would have been legendary

I'm simply happy for Brian Kelly's 44-6 run from 2018-2021, that included two undefeated regular seasons and two CFB Playoff berths.

44-6 run with like an 0-6 record vs anybody relevant. Funny enough, despite the really impressive W-L record, Kelly's best run was in the early part of his tenure with Weis' recruits when you adjust for schedule & luck (F+).

NDs best team in the last 25+ years was that 2012 season where ND finished with a #6 F+ ranking. But even his 2010 and 2011 teams were much better than their record indicated when you looked under the hood. Next best was 2015 when ND had 8 legit NFL prospects/players on their offense and finished with a top 10 offensive season. Since then it has been a lot of "blah" (which reflects the level of talent that has come through here since then)

Like I said 3 teams

Texas am is not in that group. They had 1 great class and about 10 of those guys already transferred

It's this insistence/mentality/narrative (downplaying the issues) among the ND beat/fans/community that is continuing the perpetuity of mediocrity at Notre Dame

We don't need slight tweaks around the edges at ND, we are waaaaay behind the tier 1 (which has been a number of programs over the last 25+ years), and need to cut off the head of the snake at ND and rebuild the whole thing back up.

I'm *really* hoping the recent changes at AD and HC is a sign of ND admins taking a big step in that direction.

I'm REALLY hoping you find another team to be a 'fan' of.

I mean seriously, he has not started his jr year of HS. A verbal at this point means what?
I would typically agree here as we all know things can change in a hurry. But, I will say things seem to be different when kids announce their dream is to play at ND. These are the kids we can never let slip away. A commitment is the best we can do today and as far as I can tell, it seems truly firm.

Welcome Nate!

Carter Nelson might see the light too. If he does it means he bought into how he can be used with Roberts. What a duo that would be. Either way, Roberts is so advanced at his age he could be Kelce upside.

Could Nelson play LB or S too?

Cooper Flanagan.

back home in Canada

It just depends how you’re wired and what kinds of activities you enjoy doing.

I couldn’t imagine a life not playing high energy physical contact sports. With that being said, I’m 42, and have already had 2 knee surgeries during 2023. Both sucked.

Everything is risk/reward…..

He comes from a devout Catholic family and grew up a ND fan. His brother goes to Baylor. His parents were college athletes. They did their homework and he’s visited just about every big school in the country including Ohio State, Bama, Georgia, OK, and Michigan. This was a calculated and well thought decision. I think this is a CJ Carr type kid and belongs at ND. This is a highly unlikely to flip type kid based on who he is and why he picked ND.

Top 5 guy at his position and looking forward to his ND career, but in this environment/era no matter how good a kid might seem fit-wise, you just never know what college might come calling, and how much "incentive" might follow. No prospects with a lot of offers/demand is a lock at ND right now.
Sounds like Baylor might send in a bid.

Chaseball.

BTW the Chase-bashing has gotten excessive on this board. People have opinions, that's why we are here.
I aint tripping it's mostly a vocal minority. There's a reason nobody speaks frankly about these issues, people aren't welcome to speak frankly about these issues around the ND community (nor am i). But having anonymous strangers pile on on the internet doesn't bother me.

Morons are not a source of anything worthwhile and to be blunt you have posted your share of garbage.

HE is nothing but an attention whore.

I have never posted 'information' other than stuff from the boards.

Likely flipping to OU sooner than later. Apparently ND (Parker) stopped recruiting him after he committed and lied saying they were only recruiting him. War Daddy killing it with tight end recruiting. OU media reporting he’s done with ND.

Fire Parker. Stopped recruiting? Unforgivable.

We will probably get James Flanigan anyways as his dad played at ND. Flanigan is taller and a top 5 TE. Better fit and makes more sense if we are only taking 1. My guess is them wanting Flanigan too didn’t settle well with Roberts.
