Change of pace QB, I noticed even after Leonard was good to go in the second half SA got an additional series.

Angeli did not play in the second half. I don’t foresee him playing at all unless Leonard is injured.

Notre Dame is incredibly blessed to have Leonard on the roster. 9-3 or 8-4 was very possible without him.

I’d feel good about Angeli starting next year.

Notre Dame IMO is no worse than 10-2 this season with Steve Angeli.

I will say I think ND might have been able to roll through the season undefeated with Angeli. Could he have beaten A&M, Louisville I guess, and USC is the question. If the answer to that is yes, then we could be undefeated with him. The way it turned it out, we got a QB out of the portal, RL, and we went 11-1 with a fluke loss to NIU, who any QB on our roster could have beat with ease, and we just lost that game in a fluke upset, and it wasn't really squarely on RL's shoulders as such, and these things happen.

But outside of those three games against tougher opponents, and the fluke loss to NIU, we cruised. Our defense carried us. Angeli presumably would have been fine. But that's all academic because RL is our starting QB, and he's done very well, the offense was able to evolve into a quietly pretty formidable outfit, and that's who we are. So no, we're not going to insert Angeli into the mix in the national championship of all games, just because he led us on a good drive vs PSU. I feel like saying we already knew he's capable of moving the offense.

But if you want to be more adventurous about it, then who knows. MF is willing to be bold, and if the offense is floundering and we're down two scores again, maybe he'll just be like, you know what, let's do it again with Angeli. If only because of 'recency bias'. But that would surprise me.
