Did anyone notice we beat Clemson 75-70?

Gutty win after starting the game down 10-0.

Here are the stats. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore?gameId=400915365

It was a 20 assist, 10 or less TOs and lights out 3 shooting win with some strategic defensive stops. The polar opposite of the Louisville game plan.

3-0 with 3 brutal road games in 7 days coming up.
Yes I did good game to the end. It was back and forth till the final 50 seconds.

Coach Brey said they threw more 3s than he would of liked....which was a surprise to me

Irish had a flat tire for most of the first half. Nice grit to put this one away late again in the 2nd half.

Missed the game due to start time ... I had 4pm confession and 5 pm mass ... but I did check the score on my phone just before going in for mass and saw we completed the mission

Love this team. Farrell grinded all game and played fantastic the last 2 min. This team has some basketball grit. Less athletic than most teams but plays as a team.

I thought it was funny how after the game Brey said he said some X rated things to Matt Farell at halftime regarding his play in the first half. I think he meant R rated. Hopefullly!

Farrell didn't look himself at all during the first half. Unforced turnovers, poor shot selection, and most surprising to me, low energy. Whatever Brey said worked, as he was solid the second half and spectacular the last few minutes. Beachem carried the team for stretches, and good to see him stroking the three point so well. One of those games where we had to work harder than the other team for our shots, and it felt like a loss coming our way, and then we executed the last few minutes to perfection. Gritty win is right.

really played much better D in the second half. More depth on this team than last year. I think the Center position is weak but everything else is solid . Important "return' of VJB. Farrell and Bozie might wear down a bit. need Gibbs to continue to develop . Ryan is waek on D and thats' why he doesn't play much. Would like to see the Mooney kid play some.

Brey mentioned Farrel's and Bonzie's minutes are up quite a bit from last year so they are tired. More Geben and Gibbs might be the solution. They have both played their roles well so far.

Key guys tired as you hit the road is not a good formula. But you're right, Farrell looked tired, and out of sorts the first half, and dug deep the second.

I had a priest years ago when I lived in Philly who seemed to shorten the mass when the Eagles were on TV. He would also find a way to discuss football at times during the homily. As a kid it was fun listening to him

Clemson probably deserved to win, but it was a great job by ND to pull a rabbit out of a hat.
Ah, no Clemson didn't deserve to win. It was a really good, competitive basketball game. ND deserved to win, and they did.

Looking at the stats Clemson was better in pretty much every area except for 3 point shooting. Thanks for coming out though.

That's like saying the football team that won time of possession, created more turnovers, had more sacks, kicked more field goals, but had fewer touchdowns and points, deserved to win. The ability to make the three point shot is a critical differentiator in today's basketball, and Brey recognized the importance of this year's ago and has recruited and coached to make this a stable of ND's offense.

It's really unfortunate, because I love watching this team compete, but they have a lower ceiling than last year because of their 5 spot. Auguste, although just solid, was a double digit scorer and rebounder in the post and he was a threat as a rim protector. Geben gives them very little of any of those and is a huge downgrade outside of his ability to screen and pass. ND is literally undefeated right now if they had an Auguste type in the paint. His presence down low would have had enough of an impact to stop Hart from getting whatever he wanted at the rim, and would have kept Purdue honest in the paint as well. ND really needs to find a couple ZA's in back-to-back classes, or their ceiling will forever be the Elite 8, IMO.

Coach Brey does a great job of non-coaching!

Thank you for the honorable mention .... I'd say you should try to just enjoy the win but stupidity and anger always rule the day for old angry guys .... even after an ND victory ..... :(

After looking at ND's upcoming schedule, you take every win and don't apologize. Man, the ACC is just brutal this year.....I don't see a guaranteed win in any of the games coming up. I hope Coach Brey finds some time to see if Mooney can add some scoring down low. I also hope Ryan finds his offense again.

You have never said anything good about Notre Dame basketball ever. Troll on Bugger.

"If Brey wins any coaching award this year he should give it to Connaughton .... unless people think that letting the players do whatever they want is the perfect master plan."

Only "partially accurate"....yea right. Check out one of your most infamous quotes taken before the UK game....and I guess telling people on this site that Brey sucks and Brey blows was only meant in a nice way....you are a loser.

Not true .... I've always said we've had solid teams ... ALWAYS ... Brey does a good job bringing in under the radar players .... another self serving memory ... or liar .... take your pick

And legions of posters come on to this site to back you up!.....The only reason you would ever say ND has a solid team is so you could dump more on Brey....even your new BFF, who has posted on this thread leaves you hanging out to dry. He knows you're a pos...I also see that after i reminded him what an asshole you are he hasn't looked you up

This is a very underrated team. Losing to the #1 team in the country and a top 15 Purdue team is nothing to be embarrassed about. ND played well in both games and lost in the end but they played good ball against them.

... Brey does a good job bringing in under the radar players ....

I agree that this is probably Coach Brey's biggest asset as a coach........He finds the lower rated players and some who are rated fairly high who play with a toughness and basketball IQ that is hard to find. With his recruits, I don't look so much as the stars by their names but by what their coaches have to say about them. It always seems to be something along the lines of plays smart, unselfish and a team player. Brey has a real instinct at finding the players for his system.

Just another ploy used by that POS....when the under the radar players don't pan out he blames Brey for lack of player development....or a few more infamous quotes..."I am not much of an X and O guy." Or, "Using your bench is overrated." Funny thing is....no one ever heard Brey say these things...I see you use the word "System"....how can their be a system when the players coach themselves???

He has to. After two consecutive elite 8 appearances, i thought he would be able to bring in more than Harvey who is elite.

I hope he can do it again with Djogo and Burns. I hope they develop like Abro, Farrell, Colson and others. Mooney as well but he was pretty highly rated.

True.........I really expected something out of Burns this year and I hope that still happens. He seems to be a player with good skills. I thought holding him out last year would have him ready to contribute this year.

We need you to keep posting. With cgvr gone, it is up to you to keep posting your nonsense so we can all get our daily laughs.

I expected that as well. Mooney seems to have passed him on the depth chart. Well good. More competition.

I am actually hoping Mooney ends up like Kurz and Burns like Ty Nash. That is who I compare them to.

In case you didn't notice ... I don't need any help ... and everyone here knows there is a legion of stupidity here that believes everything every ND coach has ever done is perfect ... and they argue endlessly with no rationale .... I'm sure sensible people believe the old angry guys who attack and swear at all crticism

Are you saying ND doesn't have solid teams ... they do have 5 guys from the last 2 years in the NBA ... next year there will be more ... ;)
